Stat wise Moss is far superior, so I'm not even going to attempt that argument....I'm not talking about the past four-five years here. I'm asking for this current season, who is the better overall player?

    Speed- Ginn
    KO returns- Ginn
    Punt Returns- Ginn
    Deep Threat Potential- Even
    Running every route- Ginn
    Plays Unselfishly- Ginn
    Better Hands- Moss
    Better teammate- Ginn
    Price- Ginn
    Best long-term investment- Ginn
    Most room for improvement- Ginn

On paper, I can see where you guys would want Moss. He's a great deep threat, he spreads the D out and his pseed creates chances for himself and others. He's also a big guy, meaning the jump ball on a tossup is always a chance for a quick six points deep. On paper.

In reality, we had all of that in Ted Ginn Jr. Did he drop a lot of passes? Sure, but so has Moss this season. Ginn lined up every play and rarely complained, running his deep routes even though he only saw 1-2 chances per game to snag down a bomb. Because of his speed he often saw double coverage (even though he probably didn't warrant it), and it gave opportunities for others in the short-mid routes.

Moss is a selfish player. He has way too many personality issues going on right now, and his whining will not sit well inside our locker room. Brandon Marshall is our "it" guy, and having two of them on the same team is a recipe for disaster. I just can't see Moss running deep routes 30+ times per game while Bess and Marshall make most of the catches; he's going to give up just like he did in NE and MN. Do we really need that?

We should have kept Ginn, and replacing him with an aging talent just doesn't make sense. All of this started when Moss didn't receive a contract extension with the best team in the AFC East...do you really think he will settle for less with the Fins? In reality we'd be picking him up for nine games total (a few more if we make the playoffs), then he'd be cut and probably back in New England (or retired) for 2011.

At this point...today...Ginn is the better team player, and we never should have parted ways with him since he offers the best compliment to Marshall. The real question is, do we want a deep threat in Moss that will play half the downs seriously for nine games?

I just can't see it. I just can't see throwing away a young speedster to pick up an aging one five months later.

Both are bad investments. Ginn and his family are still playing not to get hit out in SF.

Please keep moving past this pick up people. Nothing to see here.

    Ginn has deep threat potential

Moss has been going deep for years and successfully so.

I probably spent as much time as anyone here defending Ginn whenever misinformation or hyperbole was spread, but the answer to this question is painfully obvious to me.

Sure Ginn may have been cheaper and helped special teams more, but Moss would help the base offense (even if he only tried half the time) as much as I hoped Ginn ever would. Moss would unequivocally be an offensive (and overall) improvement over Ginn.

i love me some ginn, but if you want your biased yes/no chart to be more fair, you should add in things like:

    Commands double coverage: Moss
Running away from DBs out of bounds: Ginn
    Taller, better endzone threat: Moss
Possible Mentor to younger receivers: Moss
    Old Spice Swagger Factor/Rating: Moss

The one difference is, Ginn would fight for the ball each time, every time, Moss, I'm not convinced that he does, and Moss will give up on routes something I never saw Ginn do.

Difference being Moss is a FA, Ginn is property of the SF 49ers, one can land one of them...:D

BTW..ironic point, 17 teams ahead of us, in 98 we traded out of the #19...

The most important reason Moss is an improvement is because he will put D-coordinaters in a mindf**k with the double coverage he and Marsh demand

Moss doesn't typically have problems in the locker room. His teammates generally like him. He and Brady practically made out after the game sunday.

His problems have come with management/coaches regarding money. The only time he "plays when he wants to play" is when he is unhappy about his contract.

I would claim him and give him an extension. If it doesn't work out, who cares? All you blew was a little of Ross's money, which he probably won't mind since getting Moss guarantees sell outs the rest of the year

Ginn isn't even really a WR anymore, he is a complete bust at that position. He is a decent returner at best.

I don't even see how this can be debated. If Moss keeps his head straight he is still a deadly WR.

    This is an awful question.

Randy Moss= one of the best WR in the history of the league.
Ted Ginn Jr= one of the biggest busts in the history of the league.

That's like comparing a Rx-7 to an older Ferrari. Yeah you'll get some speed out of the Mazda, but will you impress anyone? I.e. Ginny does not scare a single D-coordinator in this league.

I think plenty of people would be impressed by an RX-7, the twin turbocharger alone was quite an achievement. The RX-7 (stateside) was highly touted in the 3rd generation every year that it was available.

I think the RX-7 is a poor comparison in this instance. :tongue2:

They both gator-arm it. Although Moss probably still has a better grasp (no pun intended) on how to catch an NFL ball.

Speed- Ginn- A cheetah is fast also. But like Ginn, can't catch a football

KO returns- Ginn- Maybe if we played the Jests every week

    Punt Returns- Ginn- See above

Deep Threat Potential- Even- Not even close. Moss, hands down

Running every route- Ginn- Doesn't matter if you can't catch

Plays Unselfishly- Ginn- Not even close to true. Ginn cares ONLY about not getting hit

    Better Hands- Moss

    Better teammate- Ginn- Yea!

Price- Ginn- Of course he's cheaper. He sucks

    Best long-term investment- Ginn

Most room for improvement- Ginn- Well, duh!

We have been missing a WR with speed that could stretch the field and open up spaces for our other WRs and RBs even if that WR is more of a decoy than a threat to catch.

This regime thought that Hartline would be that guy and shipped Ginn out .Hartline has not been that guy and we still have that need.

    Enter Moss.

Can we someday STOP with the Ted Ginn threads PLEASE? He is gone, and if we're lucky, he NEVER returns. TG is a BUST with a capital B. Moss when he is happy with his contract, is one of the best deep threats to ever walk onto a football field.

This ranks as one of the worst threads I have read in 2010. Seriously, Ginn lovers, GET OVER HIM, HE'S GONE!!!!

Are we really comparing first ballot HOF-er RANDY MOSS with TED one of the most useless first rounders GINN? I understand when every qb we'll ever have gets stupidly compared to Marino. BUT SERIOUSLY, will we compare every we acquire to the master of no hands and no heart? I could give a **** less about tgj and his family. screw them. screw him. screw anyone clamoring for that gutless cowardly joke of a football player.

Why would anyone want Moss on this team? He is not a team player. He is a locker room cancer. It's not worth it. I'd rather see more of Hartline, Wallace and Moore. Thanks.
