The car wreck which threatened the life of former Rams running back Isaiah Pead has ended his playing career, according to Rams coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher said he spoke to the family of the former second-rounder. Pead also played for the Dolphins, and had worked out for the Chiefs recently in hopes of getting back into the game.
“Our organization’s hearts and prayers go out to the Isaiah Pead family,” Fisher said, via ESPN. “I spoke with his mom [on Saturday]. He’s struggling, and he’s going to have a tough road. We’re hoping that he’ll come through this, but his career is over, and he was an outstanding young man while we had him.”
Pead was ejected from his car in the single-car accident Saturday. He was not wearing his seatbelt. Police said drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, in which he drove off the side of Interstate 670 in Ohio. A passenger in his care was in stable condition.

Good thoughts out to him. Terrible tragedy for him and his family.

I'm so gutted about this. The guy was not only on the team but was a fan favorite just a few months ago.

still can't understand why there are still people today that don't wear seat belts.

I feel the same way, Ohio. Its crazy that anyone would get in a car and not put their seatbelt on. I won't move my car one inch until everyone inside has theirs on properly.

That is brutal. Hoping for a full recovery.

One of my best friends, triathlon competitor, lady killer, new Border Patrol agent, paralyzed after riding in the backseat of a truck without a seatbelt. He was with two other agents. They were wearing a belt. They were in a remote part of Arizona and they had to call a helicopter in because the SUV was on top of my friend, who was stuck.
I ALWAYS wear a seatbelt and wont' even move unless everyone inside is buckled in.eltos_lightfoot likes this. -
Seatbelts are literally life savers -

Would be a nice gesture if the teams somehow acknowledged him at the game, their prayers being with him etc, since he was with both organizations.

Tommy Tuberville says pead lost part of his leg.

Blow out was also a major factor, apparently. A sober reminder that no matter how good a driver you may or may not be, no matter how good the conditions around you may appear to be, there can always be factors in play outside your control or even awareness.
