"Bill Parcells is on the verge of joining the Dolphins as head of football operations, but indicated he has not yet signed a contract despite widespread reports he has.
Parcells, reached at his home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., told The Post this afternoon "it's not official yet." An announcement is expected later today, but Parcells has been known to back out of handshake deals before a contract has been signed.
"You'll have to talk to the Dolphins," Parcells said at about 1:20 this afternoon. "I'm not going to do anything or say anything publicly until it's official, and it's not official yet.
"That's all I can tell you." "

Bill Parcells Named Dolphins’ Executive VP Of Football Operations
December 20, 2007
Bill Parcells, one of the most highly regarded and respected figures in the National Football League for more than two decades, signed a four-year contract today to become the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Miami Dolphins. In his role, Parcells will oversee the club’s football operations and report directly to owner Wayne Huizenga. General Manager Randy Mueller and Head Coach Cam Cameron will report to Parcells.
“Bill’s accomplishments put him among the most successful head coaches in NFL history, and this position was created to take advantage of his unique background and expertise,†Huizenga said. “We all know the respect that he has around the NFL. He has a proven track record of success everywhere he has been in the National Football League, and his football acumen will help put the Miami Dolphins franchise back among the elite of the NFL.â€
“I’m honored to join such an illustrious franchise as the Miami Dolphins and to work for one of the best owners in the league in Wayne Huizenga,†Parcells said. “He shares my same commitment to winning and I told him I would do everything I can to help turn around the team’s fortunes.
“I respect what the Dolphins name means – the legacy of the Perfect Season, and people like Coach Shula, Dan Marino and so many others who have made the team one of the most successful franchises in the NFL. I’m looking forward to helping restoe that winning tradition.†-
Yep - he's on right now. He admitted to signing and what brought him to the Dolphins.
-
NFL live has tuna on, and he spoke about knowing Wayne and their mutual friends and ex employees all spoke highly of Wayne H.
-
Its official Parcells himself said it on NFL Live.
-
It sounds like he wants to work with the people that are already there and try to work together to figure things out. I think that's a much better thing than just cleaning house. Cam and Randy had a nice offseason so maybe them plus Parcells can lead to a very successful offseason.
