As some of you may have noticed, and most of you probably I haven't, I have been on a 2 and a half month hiatus from the website. But it wasn't just this website, it was football in general. Call it my own personal lockout. As some of you know, I was dealing with some things in my personal life. Nothing tragic, just some life changes. As I was dealing with the things going on in my life, I also decided to get away from football for a while. I'm not sure if it was bitterness about the lockout, or if I was just tired of all the rhetoric. Or both. So until recently, I have stayed away from pretty much all football websites, magazines, books, etc. The only exception was periodic stops and PFT to see if anything was happening. What I learned was I missed football and I missed the Dolphins. And I had lots of time to think about my feelings about this team and what's going on. Like that Chad Henne deserves a season not chained to Dan Henning. Like that Brandon Marshall deserves a season not chained to Dan Henning. Like that Tony Sparano was supremely shafted by Ross. Like that Ross, while a great businessman, may not be a great owner. Like that this feels like a lame-duck season. For Sparano, Ireland and well, everyone. Like that the offense won't be that good. Like that the defense might be top 7 in the league. Like that I wish they would resign Ricky. Or Ronnie. Or both. Like that I think we need to make a big splash in FA. Sign Santonio Holmes, or Sidney Rice, or Braylon Edwards or Reggie Bush if he gets cut. Or any one that will add some spark to the offense and open things up for Marshall. But mostly, I just happy that football is back and ready start for real again. As Jake Taylor said in the movie Major League, "I'm back. And I'm gonna be around."
I can relate. I have had my own forced seperation from all things football since the lockout began. God! I'm glad thats over!
