Suppose I have a dead Sony VAIO FW (power supply) but a brand new perfect condition 320GB hard drive inside with all of my **** stored on it... I purchase a brand new Macbook Pro 500GB, and I'm trying to transfer all songs, pictures, and "videos" (lol) from old hard drive to new hard drive - Vista to Mac if that makes a difference. What's the best and easiest way to go about this, being that I have no access to actually turning my old computer on?
Will pay if possible to take it somewhere and have them transfer EVERYTHING for me.

Will the DRM for the music files get lost on transfer? Or is that an issue anymore these days? Unless they have no DRM on them. I built a new rig a while back and a few songs I bought from Urge (out of business now yay) won't play anymore or burn or anything. Windows gives me a can't find rights blah blah something even though I paid for the songs. Rapsody bought the rights to Urge's client base but when I contacted them they sorry your out of luck.
The others well...they transferred fine. :shifty:High Definition likes this. -
There should be a transfer disk that comes with your macbook to help you do this stuff man.

Thanks a lot guys. I heard about the transfer disc too, but the problem is, my Vaio (Windows) doesn't have any power. It cannot turn on, however, there is no problem with the hard drive. I'm going to take it to Comp USA and see what they say, hear their prices, reject, then buy whatever it is they were going to use for 10% of the price they'd charge me and do it myself.
Ordering the new 2010 edition of the Macbook Pro soon... just need to go to the Apple store and decide on 13 or 15 inches. -
My music should be easy to transfer and that's my main concern. I don't have any single songs - all albums in folders, and they're all in one folder (MiTunes). Really only need music, pictures, and my portfolio for one of my classes.

But with Linux, and all of the Adobe based content on the web, sooner or later, one has to put Old Yeller down so to speak.
As for W98:
Scanreg/fix
Scanreg/restore
Scanreg/repair.
