We will draft 14th or 15th based on how SF does and the tie breaker with them which will be strength of schedule. I believe we had an easier schedule so we would pick 14th if they win and 15th if they lose. After round 1 we will drop one in the draft order as the winner of the NFC South will draft ahead of us after round 1.
4 teams finished 9-7 so we could have dropped all the way to 19th had we won today, although losing to the Jets still sucks.

 

Well, considering that I think OL, LB, and Secondary takes priority, 15/16 is not a bad spot.

We are picking 15th. We and the 49ers (who pick 14th) are the only 8-8 teams. The first tie breaker the applies is winning percentage with common opponents. The common opponents for the Dolphins and 49ers this season were the Bears, Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs and raiders. The Dolphins were 3-2 vs those teams, the 49ers were 0-5.

The jets winning today probably cost them a spot... I think they would have been 5th had they lost instead of 6th.

 

Dolphins got the 14th pick. If only they could have lost that Vikings game. I think it's a pretty good pick. Maybe they can get Devante Parker or Kevin White there. Or go with a DT or CB. 2nd round there are some good MLBs. Also depends what they get in free agency. If they fell back to 19 or 20 they would have no shot at Parker.

The Dolphins have to fix their OL... They can't wait til the 3rd round or later to address it with some project guy. I read that Tannehill has been sacked 139 times over the past three seasons. Fixing the OL is the first priority... Again.

 

Assuming Brandon Albert is back, we have 3/5ths of the o-line shored up on Albert (LT) Pouncey (C) and James (RT). The guards absolutely need to be upgraded as Colledge is old and not very good, and Pouncey will most likely shift back over to the aforementioned Center spot.

Point being, we probably won't be going offensive guard in the first round.

 

dolphins have to draft a tackle that they can kick inside if Albert is healthy. We can not go into the season with garbage OTs behind James and Albert.

 

Albert is a question mark and Pouncey was cr@p this year. We better not go guard at 14 . Instead of adding to a solid base , we'll be filling holes , again .

I agree that you can't go about filling holes with 1st round picks. We've already got 3 of those on our O-line to begin with (Albert, James & Pouncey).

I think we need to put together a list of about 4 to 6 different positions and say, "we're going to take the best of those guys."

Who knows? It may be a Guard.

Then again, the upside of taking a Guard is that you don't have to be too scheme-specific. I'd hate to see us take a 4-3 DT in the first round and then switch schemes a couple years down the road.

That is one incentive to take the Guard while you have the chance and the clear need.

 

In my opinion, we need DBs badly. Reshad Jones and Grimes are our only true starts going into next year with both draft picks from last year's class still unproven and coming off of injuries.

Delmas should be back which will help solidify the safety spot somewhat, but we gave up a TON of big plays late this season due to poor depth.

And depending on who they keep, cut, or let walk, we may be in need of a wide receiver/pass catching tight end.

 

Albert at LT, James at RT, Pouncey back at Center with regained strength and no more folks thinking he's a guard.

Bring in an unquestioned FA guard starter. Draft a tackle in the mid rounds to compete with Turner for that LG/RG spot and the loser ends up the swing tackle. This coaching staff prefers guys who can play tackle and guard. Then make some smaller deals for depth and churn in late rounds/UDFA's.

Right now "if" we keep Wallace we still need a Knowshon replacement, a FS, at least 1 DT (maybe 2 if Odrick isn't re-signed), 2 CB's at the very least to toss Finnegan and Wilson out, WR to replace Hartline and we need a new MLB to replace Misi.

Lot of work to be done that we could and should go BPA at 14.
