I can't help but feel this Wilson is going to be a real gem and one of the best steals of the last draft. I can't wait to watch him play in the preseason.

 

All I keep thinking about when I hear this kid getting hype, is could he be on very own Bob Sanders..

For once it would be nice to have enough young talent to jettison Culver. Wonder if Wilson is another guy we can use to shadow pass-catching TE's?

Maybe Wilson will end up being that play making FS that many of us have been praying for. I also have been pondering the idea that we might be able to trade Sapp at some point. It would be nice to get a pick for him.

 

I can see Wilson taking Amaya's roster spot, at worst. I would love to see the guy be great but, would settle for a VG addition on STs. Can't wait to see him in pre-season games.

 

That would be an accomplishment for Ireland. Maybe if a team has injury problems.

I think were really set to face the strength of the patriots...Were gonna be a helluva difficult for tight end happy teams this year..Dansby, Edds, Burnett, and Sean playing his hybrid role, I really like our look there.

 

The game is about match-ups...I like our skillsets to defend their strength moreso than any other year..

 

All this talk so far about Wilson is very good news for us. Can't wait to see how he does on game day when the preseason rolls around. I'd say if he keeps it up and performs well, we can get rid of Benny Sapp, who IMO is nothing but a liability.

I think we are all hoping that we stole a guy in Wilson. The fact is you just don't know until we have some real game time. However, I find the early reports on him very encouraging and I give them a little more weight than typical early reports cause they are in pads this year. He doesn't appear to be one of those guys that only shine before the pads go on.

It is very encouraging that he can at least CATCH the ball! Maybe he can teach those other guys back there that trick!

Secondary depth is good. It was a strength last year. Miami used a lot of 4-CB/2-Safety stuff in Nickel situations in 2010.

My question is, with the depth in the secondary only looking even better, why swap out Crowder for Burnett? Burnett being a coverage specialist suggests Nolan wants to take a DB off the field in those nickel situations and keep his two ILBs Burnett and Dansby on full time.

I don't know if that's a great thing because we seem to have a lot of good players in the secondary between Vontae, Sean, Nolan, Will Allen, this new guy Jimmy Wilson perhaps, Yeremiah and Clemons, Reshad, etc.

 

Isn't that the Role Edds was supposed to fill before his injury?

 

Burnett having some pass rush skills in his repertoire?...Better match-up against the tight end laden patriot formations?

If Burnett ends up averaging about 70% of snaps per game, then I agree. But if it's more than that, then he's keeping Burnett on the field in situations where a year ago he took Crowder off...which means less snaps for those DBs. Dansby usually plays 100% of the snaps.

 

Yes. I'm not knocking them for not counting on Edds though. I think that's smart. He's never even seen a training camp, and his he's in his first year off an ACL tear where everyone knows it takes two years for you to be back mentally and physically.

Sparano also many times answers questions with the opening phrase, "theres no question about it". Just listen to him on The Coach Tony Sparano Show" on Channel 4 this year. That too gets annoying after the 15th billion time in less than an hour :lol:
