Former Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick Jaelan Phillips is joining the Carolina Panthers on a four-year, $120 million deal, NFL Network is reporting.
Phillips, drafted by Miami 18th overall in 2021, was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025 for a third-round pick. At the time, he called the trade "literally the greatest thing that's ever happened to me."
Phillips, an edge rusher, has 28 sacks in 63 career games, with all but two of those sacks coming with the Dolphins.
NFL Network reported that $80 million of his Carolina deal is guaranteed.
Phillips becomes the second high pick by Miami to sign a rich free-agent deal. Guard Rob Hunt left the Dolphins after the 2023 season to join the Panthers on a five-year, $100 million deal including $63 million guaranteed.

Ridiculous money for an often injured player with bad hips.. and even mroe ridiculous that he is getting more than Trey Hendrickson.

Is Chris Grier a consultant for the Panthers now?

Well blow me down.
He has shown flashes of potential, but ...
Anyway good luck to him if someone wants to pay him that much. For the panthers fans I hope he earns it.

Met him many times. Great human. Happy he got paid.

Yeah, I'm happy he got paid as well.
That's incredible money for a guy with very limited production.
I don't get it at all.
