As the agent for Michigan tackle Jake Long continues to negotiate with the Miami Dolphins regarding the possibility of working out a contract before the time comes for the Dolphins to make their pick, there’s a report that Jake isn’t all that juiced about playing for the Fins.
John Czarnecki of FOXSports.com reports that “[t]he word on the street” is that Long doesn’t want to play in Miami. But talks are continuing between the team and Long’s agent because of the “special honor” of being the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. (Yeah, those Steve Emtman rookie cards are going for about 100 . . . yen.)
Czarnecki says that, if/when the talks with Jake Long break down, the Fins won’t move on to defensive end Chris Long. The Virginia product, the son of Hall of Famer Howie Long, has been presumed for several months to have the inside track because he’s the safest pick on the board.
The Fins apparently then would look after Jake Long to defensive end/linebacker Vernon Gholston. With talk of Gholston slipping in the eyes of other teams, he’d be very wise to take the best deal he can get, if/when he gets an opportunity to negotiate with the Fins.

The word on the street is that Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long doesn't want to play for the Dolphins, who continue to negotiate with him as the first overall draft choice. There's a special honor in being the first pick so Long's agents continue to talk.
Of course, there is a deadline to these contract talks and then the Dolphins will move onto the next person on their board. Apparently, it isn't Virginia's Chris Long.
What is unusual about the top of the draft is that no team has declared to be after Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan.
I think the best player is Arkansas running back Darren McFadden because not only is he a tough inside runner, but he also has game-breaking receiving skills. It is an unusual combination for an every-down runner. McFadden has the potential to be more dynamic than Adrian Peterson, Minnesota's rookie of the year.
LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey figures to be selected in the top three, but there are many teams in the bottom two-thirds of the draft that have serious medical concerns about the stress fracture in his right leg. Some teams believe he will need surgery within two years on that leg. But the teams that love Dorsey seem not to care about this medical red flag.

Until he is quoted saying such, its a rumor or someone stiring the pot.

I'm shocked he wouldn't want to play in Miami. Maybe if Cam was still in town, but with a new regime led by Parcells, players should be excited about coming here.

I wouldn't mind Gholston but I don't know why we wouldn't go after Chris Long.

"the word on the street is that Jake doesn't want to play in miami"
The "word on the street" means about as much as me saying the dolphins were really the best team in the league last year. It has no significance until Jake comes out and says something along the lines of "We have broken contract discussions with Miami, I do not want to play there. I repeat... i do not want to play for Miami."
Its just some stupid writers, trying to stir up some rumours, probably because they think these negotiations are going on too long or something ridiculous. -
great. forget the low ball offers and give the money to a quarterback, the only position that justifies the contract
