The long standing 34 year feud between Shula and Scott finally appears done and over! I think that's great! For you young guys Jake Scott is one of the all time great Dolphins, a terrific Safety, MVP of the Perfect Fins Superbowl and the original #13. Good article by Dave Hyde and a little background for you.

Thanks TI for posting this article, because I had absolutely no idea. I remember Jake Scott as a great player on the No Name Defense. And, I have the vaguest of recollections of him being traded to Washington. So, now it all makes sense. All I can say is I'm glad they found a way to make amends. I will say that the older I get, the more I realize the importance of forgiveness, and checking your own ego at the door. Life is just too short. On a side note, I especially enjoyed this part of the article, as it goes to the toughness that defines the Dolphins of the early 70's.

Anybody got a pic of this? I'd like to see what Jake looks like now...

For those who want the low down on Jake Scott, the Sun Sentinel article from 2006 is a must read. Hes probably the biggest bad-*** to ever wear a Dolphins uniform.

Thanks so much TI. Damn, that brings warmth to my heart and a tear to my eyes. Jake Scott is as good as they come , he should be in the Hall and for heavens sake lets get him in the ring.
It is so right that the # 13 be worn by only those two guys (Jake and Dan) and never to take the field again!DolfanJake and Tin Indian like this. -
Unless this somehow helps the Phins win 12 games this year, this is my care face:

It's a real crime why Jake Scott isn't in the Hall of Fame. Deion Sanders could have watched Jake to learn how a d-back is supposed to tackle.

Maybe this is why we haven't won a super bowl since the 70s. Our curse may be broken.
....or it was just that $h*tty defense during the Marino years.
*EDIT* Oh wait, he also wore number 13...I think I've figured it out. There was a curse. We're now ready to move on. Your welcome. -
AWESOME NEWS ! I'm glad they are finally over it. Its so silly to hold a grudge for so long.

Awesome news for two of the greatest Dolphins to ever represent the Fins. I'm showing my age but I was a fan during the days of the Jake Scott teams and he was truly a great player, he could teach the current players something about attitude and intensity.
