Well if Sony wants to see a bright side their gaming division actually sold more gaming devices total than Microsoft but I have a feeling needing the PSP to do that won't please them much.

man, mario kart ds and new super mario bros are pretty old games. That's incredible selling power when their still in the top ten after all this time.

I also don't have Wii Play... My dad however, has bought a Wii Play for each of his 3 Wiis. He doesn't play any of them.

I wish we had clear numbers of what the PS3 is doing overseas. Its definitely getting killed here but I wonder what the global numbers are?

man, i know its early but you gotta think the wii can pass the ps2 at this point. All nintendo needs to do is slap us with another wii fit 2 next year or something and the system is a guaranteed another 20 million units.

Thanks, if those numbers are even close Sony has to be crying in buckets about the PS3.

    Why?

Just because they don't have the best selling machine they have to be crying in buckets?

Yes. The company just posted a giant loss for the first time in 10 or 11 years and even after the PS3 has been out for a good while and blu ray has won the format war they are in third place behind Nintendo and Microsoft, who is only on its second system which was only put out on a 3 year R & D window.

The hope was that once it was out a while and blu ray won the PS3 could catch the 360 and it seems that now thats out of the question. So yeah, if I were Sony I would be very, very unhappy right now.

I dont like Sony myself but I want them to do well enough that Microsoft cant take anything for granted so that both companies push each other to make better and better systems. I would consider it a very, very dark day if Sony got out of the console industry even though I dont buy their consoles.

It's actually better than I thought it would be. Given the extra year for Microsoft, the high price point of PS3, and the lack of games that plagued it for a while you have to think those numbers aren't half bad.

Here's another way to look at it: Microsoft spent over a billion dollars fixing crappy machines they rushed out the gate to get a jumpstart on Sony only to get annilhated by Nintendo anyway. Factor in RROD costs and I doubt we're looking at any great profit from the Xbox 360. I'm sure Sony would like to be in first but they'll figure it out. They're only the creators of the best gaming console ever made. [PS2] That doesn't happen by accident.

Valid point about the profit margin of the PS3 Vs. the 360.
