http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFLDoctors told Jason Taylor that he "would be done forever" if he hadn't undergone Monday's emergency calf surgery. Taylor was at risk of an amputation had he waited longer due to nerve damage and "tissue necropsy." Its looks like he may miss more than this weekend against the cowboys. I for one am surprised at how serious the injury could have been/is.
I have had something very similar. One of the compartments in my lower left leg swelled up and I was told much the same thing as JT. The pressure cut off the circulation to my foot and I was in danger of losing it. They scheduled me for surgery but there was a nearly 4 hour wait. In the meantime, they pumped me full of diuretics and elevated the leg. When they came in to get me for surgery my doc brought a specialist. He determined the diruretics had greatly helped the pressure so they decided to postpone the surgery in hopes I would need it. They kept me seriously dehydrated for two days with the leg elevated and the compartment began to function normally again. For a year the top part of my foot was numb and the top of my toes were ULTRA sensitive to a light touch. Stuffed in a boot they were fine, lightly brush the toe hairs and it felt like boiling water.
Yes thank you, it is. They told me I was lucky I didn't get "slap foot" where it is always numb and you have to wear a brace, I was pretty happy things healed.
