I'd take JT back just so he doesn't go over to the Pats.

 

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Jason Taylor back. It would make sense. Not only to keep him away from the patriots, but because, as we all know, we need to upgrade our pass rush. JT is a good pass-rusher. Yeah he got hurt last season but you can not deny his level of production prior to last year. He's still in great shape and wont come into the season in anything less based solely on his own work ethic. I know his leaving left a sour taste in a lot of our mouths. And I'm not at all excusing his actions. He didn't want to be with us when we were losers but wants to come back now what we're division champs. But the truth of the matter is that is something that we as fans think about, not something that coaches and talent evaluators do. So like I said, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back.

 

It will come down to if JT will be willing to come in knowing hes competing for time and well be treated like everyone else. I think both sides want this, but JT has to take an ego blow.

Amen. LT was unstoppable. I love JT and have defended him vigorously in the past. But Lawrence Taylor he ain't.

also do not sell JT short, I am not saying he is a legend like LT...but he is one of the best at his position

I think playing for another team did him well, IMO. The grass is always greener, blah, blah. I think he realized what a good franchise and fan base he left behind.

 

I just don't understand the flack Taylor gets around here. When the Giants won the Super Bowl everyone was so quick to post the youtube video of Sam Madison telling the '72 Dolphins to pop the champagne. Those comments somehow solidified what we all knew, that Sam was a Dolphin at heart.

Well, if these comments from Taylor about the Jets fanbase/organization don't give you the same vibe, then you're not giving Taylor a fair shake. This guy will always be a Dolphin at heart, and he's still got something left in the tank. It's a good fit, with the added benefit of getting to see one of the greatest players this franchise has seen retire in the aqua and orange.

 

Plus the phins made the playoffs :up:

 

He seems to be saying all the right things lately and it's showing that he really wants to be back.

But it does prove that he knows he was being a little ***** last year when he left.

Something or someone must've finally gotten it through to him that he has no long term future in hollywood and that he's a football player. Always was and always will be, and that's where he's getting his money. Not movies

 

it is what it is...we had so many regime turnovers that he went through, and always gave 100%...the cam cameron debacle was probably just way too much and he lost his passion i would guess...he committed to doing dancing with the stars as he started thinking about life after football

I agree. Apparently, Dancing With The Stars is a HUGE TV show. I don't watch it, but it gets great ratings, plus, ABC promotes the hell out of it on its morning shows and news, etc. Maybe he realized all his dancing pub was fleeting. Maybe he realized he can't act. I dunno. Its just good to hear his heart is back into football...unless he signs with the Pats.

 

I think JT doing a Pre Game show is a lot bigger possibility than him making it in film or TV Hollywood. Especially when you see some of the goofs they have on right now.

I was not thrilled about JT coming back to Miami, I've sort of thawed on that and now think if we can work him into the rotation he may be worth it.

What happens if we pass on him though? Will Ireland catch the hate for shutting him out??

 

it would be almost like telling marino he can't come back...not quite as severe but up there to be honest.

 

Because I don't remember Sam's exit ever being close to as acrimonious as was the JT/Bill Parcells rift. Didn't Sam leave via free agency ? JT was still under contract here and orchestrated his own leaving. Had he not pulled all of those stunts, he would have been here last year and more than likely this year, as it would have been the last year of his contract.

Jason made his bed, and I have zero sympathy for him.

This organization WASTED his best years as a professional football player. They wasted those years for various reasons ranging from: Wannstedt failing to use the guy creatively, to the organization being too inept to put a proper team around him. If the ultimate goal in this sport is to win a championship, how can you blame a guy with limited years left in the tank for not wanting to stick around a rebuilding project? Critics would have a point if, at any point during his tenure with the team, he was found dogging it on the field, but you know that's simply not the case.

Critics have some strange belief that players should be loyal to an organization (almost oblivious), yet the organization doesn't seem to have the responsibility to return anything in favor. Well, that's crap. The organization should be responsible by giving its players the opportunity to achieve the sport's ultimate goal, to win a SB. And we all know, the Dolphins have failed miserably at that task for the better part of 30 years.

Now I'm not saying that I condone the way that he (or the Dolphins, yeah its a TWO way street) went about it, but to completely dismiss all that he's done for this organization in his career is juvenile and short-sided. And to act as though he couldn't help this team in the immediate future is beyond ridiculous.

 

FaninPatsyLand you completely miss my point. JT leaving is his own doing. What was in the past, you, me or the Dolphins organization cannot change. But the Dolphins organization finally got it right, and JT's contract said he should be loyal to the team. That is the system, that players need to be more loyal than organizations.....because for the Dolphins its all about the team, and not what's best for the individual players. You may not like it, but that is the reality.

JT wanted out, and didn't even want to give the new guys a chance. He immediately decided to do DWTS literally the week Parcells arrived (remember Parcells took the job with 2 or 3 weeks remaining in the 2007 season). JT was announced as a DWTS competetor but still could have backed out once he knew Parcells was adverse to the idea. He still chose to participate. It was at that moment he made his true loyalties known, getting a ring for HIMSELF was more important than any team. That is not the Parcells Way.

Maybe they are talking, it could also be a ploy on JTs side to get back in the good graces of DolFans, to support his local South Fla charity event. He certainly turned a lot of us off with his churlish behavior last year, and knows he needed some nice local pub to help his event to be a success. If you notice, since the event last week, we haven't heard anything more about this.

Coincidence ? Perhaps, but its worth noting that all of this "talk" of his return was just a few days before his event, and since then nothing new has surfaced from JT or any in the Dolphins camp. The only chatter you hear about it is on boards like this, or in blogs. The main characters are no longer talking about it.

Have you ever looked for a job while being employed at a totally unrelated company? Is that wrong? What if the Company has terrible benefits and doesn't afford you the chance to grow professionally?

That's essentially the situation that developed here between Taylor and the Dolphins. Fact is, the Dolphins organization hasn't done squat in 30+ years.

By the way, I think you're reading way too much into Taylor's recent public actions. It's pretty clear you have something against the guy, which is fine. But you're letting it cloud your judgement of the situation at hand.

Hes being paid market value for his services, his loyalty should of been to the team and the team only, not on himself for the bettermeant of his future away from football. I think its BS.

There should be NO offseason for professional athletes, their offseasons should consist of how to better themselves physically and mentally, so they can contribute as much as the humanly can to their employer thats paying them so fairly.

 

I agree completely with your stance on the offseason regarding professional athletes, but that's simply not the case in reality.

I don't agree that his loyalty should lie soley with the team, however. When you give an organization all you have for your entire career, yet they don't give you a legitimate chance to acheive your ultimate goal, then you have to look elsewhere. Its like that in any walk of life, regardless of what profession you reside.

And, for the record, Taylor was no more responsible for this organization's past short-comings than Dan Marino or Zach Thomas were. The difference is that neither of those guys had any value to other organizations and, in Thomas' case, he was allowed to pursue a ring with a different team.

 

it most certainly can become the reality and should, and it does with some players, i look at the JT situation from my perspective and what my character would reveal...i believe it would reveal humility and gratefulness, regardless of whether the team could'nt win big games.

What the front office does around him is none of his business. The dude was being paid 10 million freakin dollars for 6 months of work..he shouldnt have to be told to dedicate himself to his craft in the offseason.. His pride and character should of

 

No offense, but its an awfully easy exercise to sit on a computer and type that up, however its an entirely different exercise to live by that standard. I have a strong indication that a majority of people put in a similar situation, regardless of their profession, would choose the option that gave them the most realistic opportunity to achieve their goals.

I work for a company, I get paid... does that mean I shouldn't be concerned about the actions taken by the executives that are running the company? Just because I'm not privy to the conversations that take place, doesn't mean they're not my business. After all, they affect me.

 

i dont see the standard your refferring to, to me its simple loyalty and what you should be doing for a company that has taken care of you and your entire family ten times over..

iam not on no high horse here brother but i promise you, if it was me i would be all about my craft, my teammates, and my boss. If they want my opinion as to what we need to improve i'll tell them, if not, then i do my job, as long as i feel and believe that iam being paid fairly.

Not being a leader while your getting paid....bad for your team.

The man got released from his position because of these reasons imo...i dont see such a high standard here.

ireland won't catch hate from me. for me what that means is he and jason taylor have talked and ireland doesn't like the idea. ireland and co. took us from 1-15 to the AFCE Division Champs.

It's hard to hate a guy who did that and helped draft well the first year.

 

Rightamundo... that should be implied the second his name went on the dotted line. This isn't just "company" money a player is dealing with... it's fans, too. :wink2: And I don't pay good money to see a player taking advantage of the hard earned money that I spend YEAR-ROUND to make.

 

By that logic any business that you spend money on, you should expect all contract employees to stay no matter what. I'm willing to bet you wouldn't care.

 

Not sure, if I recall correctly, last season Ireland (or Tuna) used the "Acorn falling from the tree" metaphor concerning the prospects of signing Chad Pennington after he was Freed from the Jest.

I know I've heard them use that phrase before.

What is interesting is whether or not Ross or Bailey believe JT would bring in extra revenues and whether Ross wanting JT would cause a conflict with Ireland.

If we don't resign JT, IMO we will be reading about how he feels about that for weeks...especially if he ends up in the AFC East.

 

I'm not really sure of your relavance. There aren't thousands of people coming to my job paying me to watch me work. I said nothing about staying or not staying. I'm talking about giving 100% to your team for the duration of your contract....off season included.

Relevance is paying to see them play goes towards the team and its revenue, nothing more nothing less. Its no different then you spending money on anything else.
You should honor your contract sure, but before last season when jt wanted out of the contract did he not honor it? I would say he did. he found a way out of that contract. Its business, nothing more, nothing less.
