any news? I can find nothing on the subject, absolutely no information on Jason Taylor & Dolphin talks. Hate to see him snatched up by the Buc's or worse yet by the Cheaters.
he would be an absolute terror on the pass rush. we could play him along with & Wake & Porter to unbalance the right or left pass rush. What could an offense do to stop that kind of assault? all three would have to be double-teamed because they all consistently beat single coverage. just not enough players on the fiesl to do that & be effective.
It would be a ThreeHeaded Monster, pass-rush.
Really would like to bring him back to the team. has to get done very soon or we'll lose him.

I'm actually really surprised that he hasn't resigned yet.
I think any other regime we've had would definitely have done it...this means one of two things...
parcells really wants no part of him, or...they really are committed to our youngsters and feel that he is not needed for our push to the superbowl, which is encouraging.
I'm sure sparano would love to coach him, and have him on his team

IMO, their dragging it out way to long. If they want him, sign him. If their making sure they can get someone better and stringing him along on this. I wouldn't blame him for going anywhere else.
Personally, I want JT back. I'd love to see him take the field with the Dolphins. But, at the same time, if the fo is playing games, I'd tell them to forget it and go play somewhere else.
This is all speculation on my part. I think I'm just so tired of the fo pulling the players and our chains. That's just my opinion.muscle979, CrunchTime, first&goal and 1 other person like this. -
starting to look like they really don't want him on the team
but I won't attempt to second guess Bill Parcells, only he knows -
I'll probably get bashed big time, but that's ok. I just cannot make myself trust bp. I keep hoping I will, have since he came here. But, I just can't for some reason. -
but that wouldn't do too much for the younger guys; which is why i think they released him last year in the first place. you could argue it was for dancing with the stars but they've obviously gone younger since then. true they did bring in pennington who is older but the QB spot is a little different than a pass rushing spot.
i think it would be helpful and I'm for having him back but I don't feel like I'm being jerked around as a fan.. I feel as if there's a clear cut message and the hopes of having him re-signed are little to none. if JT signs with anyone else because the FO hasn't gone to him with their decision I can't fault him (though they are sending messages to him by doing all the things they're doing); I just hope our Oline has the strength and ability to pass block on him - which I think they do.
Just might be my perspective, though.firedan and dolphindebby like this. -
I hope he signs with Tampa very soon. I'm tired of hearing about it, and we don't need him. If he winds up signing with the Patriots, then he is officially... to me... no longer a Dolphin at all.
That's how I feel about it. Go ahead and bash away. -
We'd be stupid to pass up on Jason Taylor. We have one consistent pass rusher on this football team. Based on what I've read, I can't wait to see Cam Wake play, but we don't know how he's going to translate that success to the NFL level. We don't know. Matt Roth is probably the second best pass rusher on this team, and aside from his never ending motor, he DOES NOT impress me at all. Sign Jason Taylor. He's as good of a situational pass rusher as you're going to find this deep into the offseason. If Wake turns into James Harrison v2, Merling and Langford step it up, and Roth continues to develop, then that's great! You can never have too many pass rushers.

Skolnick Update
Skolnick has a mini-update via 640AM:
Miami Dolphins: Jeff Ireland interview ("taking our time" on JT call)

At this point after all the rumors and innuendos about JT. I don't know if he needs to come back or not. I know some of the players want him back. And it wouldn't surprise me if Sparano didn't also.
IF he came back and was treated like a outsider it would be terrible.
I like the man and the player and I'd love him here, but not at the expense of him being called out for every little statement he might make. He's just a man who wants to play here, not some one that deserves to be jerked around all the time. -
Friend RickyNeverInhaled: I hear you & have great expectations for Wake
I just can't help thinking about the possibilities of over loading one of the outside rushing positions with JT. Who would you cover? How would you do it? Answer: by totally disrupting your offensive line & back field trying to keep Wake, Porter & JT off your QB.
Would be awesome! -
He's a good player. I wish him the best whatever he disides to do. -
He WAS playing here, and decided we weren't good enough and asked for a trade. Besides, dancing was more important than football.. ohh, I understand he had already commited himself, but HE put himself outside our fence, exactly where he wanted.
They are correct taking their time, and exploring all the options that didn't quit. -
It's to our benefit to string him along as long as possible if we aren't going to sign him.cnc66 and Ophinerated like this. -
But, just suppose the fo were the real jerks in all this? I don't think we'll ever know the whole truth.
Your always the gentleman.
Speaking of people that didn't like JT, where did pmzq go? I haven't seen him in a long time. -
Kevin pitched a temper tantrum over the radio show and decided to leave after being undeservedly harsh to members and several staff. He will have the opportunity to return in a couple months.dolphindebby likes this. -
I hate it about Kev and sorry such things have to happen. -
i really am against the fo in this one, pacells is power tripping, there are 0 better options then jt, he when healthy is probably the best pass rusher in the league, and they dont sign him, nothing but egos here, the same thing that hurt our team last year, this kinda stuff makes me sick. If I was ross paying him all that money i would tell him to cut it out and sign jt now.
I doubt they will seeing as how they just dumped zach like he was nothing, makes me sick, no player is safe, they all bow down to bp ego. Makes me feel like he would rather have his ego then win.
Its not like JT is insulting him, he basically told bp he is sorry, and bp is just tripping. -
I've alluded to this before, but I'll say again...I think a deal is already in place. I think a compromise was made to allow Taylor to avoid some/most/all of the offseason stuff in exchange for a home team discount. I have nothing to base this on, just have a gut feeling he will be back with The Dolphins in 2009. And, while I know some here would rather he not come back, I personally feel he would be a great addition to the team.

hope you're right
we can use him, with or without Wake
all he can do is improve the defense -
Sparano said in a recent inteview: "can never have too many good pass rushers on a team..."
-
Today a Coworker showed me a blog on his phone that had a quote of Parcells saying "We currently have no interest in Jason Taylor" I'll try to find out the link to it. But either way i seriously doubt we will pick him up.
-
To date since hiring his staff, Parcells has made a point of staying out of the media spotlight. Instead, referring the media to Ireland and Sparano for interviews, etc. -
The way I understand the Trifecta, they will never, ever be hurried into doing anything, nor will they tell anyone they intend to do something before they actually do it. Put these two together and they will not sign JT, if at all, until the last possible second so that reality sets in on his salary and playing time demands, and they will not announce it, or even hint at it, before they act if they do sign him.

Last i heard was that report that Ireland said he did not want to hurt the development of the younger players.. Although I would like to have JT back, I definately agree with this assessment. Im not sure how productive it would be for the team to bring back JT, say for 2 years, while impeding on the development of a player with a brught future and more current upside, say like Cameron Wake.
There is a whole new defense to learn. Who knows if he even has the ability to start? (I would hope I would be able to beat out Roth, but Roth is the better tackler out of the two - although JT is definately the smarter of the two) Is his calf completely healed? The questions, the concerns. -

I'd love for JT to be a Dolphin again. But if I'm being honest with myself, the biggest reason is that I don't want to see him in a Patriots uniform.
