Exactly. Welker's original offer from NE was something like 4 years 39 million. There the was no way Welker was worth 39 million guaranteed.

I think it was a trade but had we not traded Welker, they were gonna offer him an offer sheet where the contract was fully guaranteed if he played 5 or more games in Miami in a single season. It never came to that though thus the 2nd and 7th round picks for compensation.

It's always fascinating to read the headline of a thread (and the original post) and then go straight to the end of the thread and see where the discussion is. Not a criticism - just entertaining to see how threads morph.

Tom Brady turned Reche Caldwell into a 700 yd receiver. It's not like Welker went to Mark Sanchez. Welker is good. I can see amendola maybe not as good but damn good enough.

Don't blame the FO. Blame Welker. He signed the poison pill, wanted out of Miami. Then talked smack about us after leaving. No way we were keeping him.

yeah, they withdrew the offer and just did a trade. Miami got an extra pick 7th) and Welker got a worse contract than what was originally offered.

Told the wifey a long time ago if they go to the Superbowl I'm going to the Superbowl. Don't care if I have to pawn her bling or sell the car 2nd mortgage. Bake sale. Ill hitchhike. Blow jobs are not out of the question. Yes Mr Newman you can have my wife for the night for a million. Hell you can keep her for that much.

Just saying. Please...before its too late.

I don't think belicheat cares about spitting on Jesus. They've been enemies since the old testament at least.

Poor little wesley wanker. Still sitting on the sidelines staring at the other team and wondering what its like playing for a champion.

jdang307 is right. Welker was going to sign a poison pill contract with the Patriots, however the Patriots didn't want bad blood with the Dolphins or the bad press, so they offered to throw in a 7th round pick in a trade to avoid the situation.

I don't have a dog in this race. Not a homer..... not even a fan. But I'm liking what I see from Miami & I think they take the East.

Your memory is faulty. He was given the second round tender and then signed the poison pill contract with NE. Miami's option was to do the trade and garner an extra pick or just lose him for the second alone. His talking smack was just him being classless. He was basically in the same position as Bess this year except that he forced the trade rather than us trading him of our own accord. Bess was grateful for the Dolphins being the only team that gave an UDFA his shot, while Welker said he used to stand on the Dolphin's sideline wishing he was a Patriot.

Still a douchy thing to say to the team that gave him his shot, his teammates and a fan base that had embraced him.

welker talked **** about the patsies when he left them too as I recall. Guy seems like an ******* to me.

  23. 1. The team should of put a higher tender on him and paid him the money he was worth. He was about the only bright spot on our offense back then..

2.N.E. threw in the 7th because they were competing with Minny for him. They threw in the 7th to sweeten the deal. It was a foolish move by the FO. They should of traded him out of the division.

    3. Welker may be a great receiver but he is also an arrogant low life. Miami fans loved him when he was here and he spit on all of them on his way out and then he performed a repeat performance on his way out of NE.

Welker's best year in Miami was 67-687 1 TD. I don't see how anybody would argue he was worth a first round tender unless they also feel that Bess is worth a a first round pick (61-778 1 TD).

I'm usually wrong but I don't think wee Wesley wanker won a Superbowl with the patsies. Or no?

    Edit:
I'm right. Two losses to the new York football giants the first one ending the only chance in history to have the 2nd perfect season.
