Wow. Very interesting comments that answer a few of my season long concerns.

Ooops. Forgot the link. Fixed it. :001_rolleyes:

I know the Tuna has reached out to JT. I hope he promised to utilize him like in '06. I've been leaning towards having him back next year and this crap just solidifies that thought.

Taylor, the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year, was on the NBC conference call because he will be a guest analyst this weekend for the network's Football Night in America show.
''Bill Parcells was hired a couple weeks ago and with that, you knew he would make changes to try to correct this situation we find ourselves in,'' Taylor said. ``A couple days ago, Randy Mueller was let go [as general manager]. And now, Coach Cameron and his staff. It's one of those times, where as a player, it's a little unsettling because you don't really know what's going to happen. Everything is kind of up in the air. You don't have a whole lot of control over it. You step back and control the things that you can and let the things go that you can't. That's the only reaction I could have at this point.''

As far as playing better in '08, I think so too, but he wasn't too shabby this year either. I think we were all spoiled after '06. -
This is just more of the same stuff....Cam is gone and now is time to move on....is a fresh start and the good thing is you can see that Bill and Ireland are in the same page......the HC will be on the same page too....there's gonna be 1 direction from now on and anyone who's not on board with it will not be a part of the team.
Ozzy rules!! -

Don't like Cam very much as a head coach. And if you've seen my rants about him lately, you'd agree that is an understatement.
Generally the head coach asserting his authority, especially in his first year, is important. If Cam hadn't challenged JT, and the team still performed the way they did this year, Feely could just as easily be saying that Cam's problem was that he let others assume the leadership role for the team. So I'm not sure that Feely has pinpointed the cause of the problems with Cam's leadership, but he is telling us that there was a big problem. More than a lot of Cam defenders want to admit.
What I find interesting is how quickly these comments were made. Less than 24 hours after his demise, the kicker of all players is calling out Cam's leadership. Whether it was this move that showed Cam's lack of leadership or not, the bottom line is that Feely is telling us that the locker room didn't believe in Cam. That is why he wasn't given another year. Great coordinator, bad leader. Good riddance. -
Taylor has earned his respect as a player in this league, Cam has not as a head coach.
-
Well if he lost the confidence of the kicker then I agree that Cameron should have been let go
-
I think Parcells would be open to trading Taylor...for the right price. Which, in turn, I doubt anyone will play. Taylor is still extremely valuable to this team. It's just that we are in long term mode now, and he only has so many more years in him.
I don't get Cam singling Taylor out much like I didn't get it when Saban once singled out Zach. These guys are practically like having an extra pair of coaches. They are always motivated, play at an extremely high level, and do it for the team. Why single a guy like that out? -
I was suspect about Cam when he was talking about starting Chatman over Ronnie, I knew then he was not going to make it as a head coach.

The NFL Litmus test! -
Yeah, I forgot about the Ronnie at KR experiment, that was ridiculous.:confused2: -
That move wasn't a colossal mistake in personnel assessment and utilization at all!
That move was the move of a master motivator!
 -
How did we not lose a game during our bye week is another question :glare: -
You know, everyone questioned what Cam did to Ronnie, making him return kickoffs, talk of starting Chatman and look what it did to Ronnie, ignited a fire in him and thats exactly what Cam wanted. Ronnie was a beast right before he got injured, definitely on pace to be in the pro-bowl. Maybe Cam tried to do the same with JT? (This is speculation) Except it backfired with JT because of his ego. Maybe Cam came into the situation, saw Ronnie and JT slacking off in practice and decided to fire them up SOMEHOW. How do you do that? Have them prove to you that they want to play, have them compete like they want it. It probably didn't work with JT either because Dom didn't know what the H he was doing with the defense and that probably frustrated JT further. You know, JT did give the game ball to Cam when they won so maybe he understood what Cam was trying to do, and appreciated it. Who knows, this is just one person's view, a kicker, and y'all are running with it. No one knows what JT and Cam have said to each other away from Feely.

Im not saying Cam didnt motivate Ronnie some what, but its my opinion that Ronnie is responsible for some of his own productivity instead of giving it all to Cam -
To me, this just proves the great character of Jason Taylor and how he STILL performed as a probowler despite all of the adversity he went through this year. He truly should be a hall of famer with no problem. I just wish he could go out winning a super bowl with zach thomas who i also believe deserves to be a hall of famer.
-
While i agree with you that this would (and did) work well with ronnie, there was no need to do it with JT. Why would you try to do that to a guy who just won the NFL's Defensive MVP award just a season ago? JT doesnt need to be fired up, its in him, just playing football on sundays for him is enough motivation. -
-
-
Heres JT's take on it. He doesnt really agree or disagree with the firing but fro what we know about what JT thought of Cam's moves I think JT agreed with the decision.
"We've had a difficult year, and it's one of those times when it's a little unsettling," he said. "As a player on the team, you can only control what you can, and for other things, you have to let others do it." .. JT -
Who cares what Cam and JT's relationship was outside of Feely's line of sight. The point he was making was the locker room reaction to Cam's efforts to diminish Taylor publicly. -
And how do we even know what Feely means by diminished? Do you know? I certainly don't. And I don't care. Diminish could mean, Hey, we play as a team, no one gets special treatment and that includes you JT. It seems like a big deal made out of nothing. Cam's gone now and it doesn't even make a difference. Fact is, JT had enough sincere respect to give Cam the game ball from their first win. -
In my experience, people that I've truly liked as people were the worst bosses I had. And the people who I couldn't stand on a personal level turned out to be the best bosses. That seems to often be the case in the NFL. Tony Dungy being the rare exception I can think of.
Playing their butts off in training camp and practice? What about the games where they looked and played like s***? One player looks better in 2007 than he did the previous year, and Cam somehow gets the credit. Have you heard from anyone claiming Taylor is dogging it to the point that Cam needed to challenge him?
You seem to have decided that diminished meant challenging Taylor for not give 110% while claiming we can't know what he actually meant by diminished. But like I've already pointed out earlier in this thread, it doesn't matter what Feely thought was the root cause of the problem, but the fact that he is telling us there was a problem. Cameron lost the team.
When did Cam lose the team? Maybe it was early on. It's more likely it was later, once Zach's concussions sidelined him meaning there was no reason to challenge?
It really blows my mind that Dolphin fans assume that the best player the Dolphins have had over the past decade, who isn't known as a head case is the problem rather than the coach who went 1-15 and has never been successful as a head coach. -

oh god, did you actually read my posts? I never said it was JT's fault.
If it was anyone's "fault" it was Cam trying to stir up some fire in JT, which he obviously doesn't need. -
