Looks like a more polished Ted Ginn to me.

So I am guessing we'd take a pass. Thanks :wink2:

Not quite but considering he could be in the 1st round and isn't quite the prototypical big target WR, we'll likely take a pass because of that.

It just increases our chances of having someone drop to us.

No way would we draft him.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering if he might fit into our plans. The guys on ESPN were quite high on him.

In theory, with two guys to stretch the field, they would have to play more Cover 2 versus us which would open up the running game...

I don't see it happening, but I truly wonder what it'd be like having Ginn and Maclin on the same squad...

Probably like a bunch of chickens running around while Pennington dumps it off to Camarillo/Bess for a short pass. Might get lucky on a flea-flicker if the CB's whiff.

He needs quite a lot of route refining. He's hellish quick and a good returner, but he's raw as onions.

Not sure if Maclin is any more polished than Ginn coming out, we have bigger needs to address IMO.

Im quite happy with a 3rd year Ginn along with a healthy Cammy and Bess, hell even London.

Iam sorry guys but for me personally, i just cant get my arms around taking a wide receiver with our first pick, i dont see the urgency there relative to the other top three positions...Nose tackle, explosive linebacker, interior o lineman.. I think our team needs to get more explosive in those positions first. I think if we go get a receiver it will come thru free agency just for the simple fact that we are already so young at that position.

Iam happy going into next year with cammy, bess and ginn. I know some will disagree but i really am.

We need that brute strength...just look what Jake did for the identity of our team, thats the kind of team i want..DOMINATION on both LOS'S

I can live with it but I won't be happy if that's all we still have. Unless London is the reincarnation of Brandon Marshall, we still need that big target WR with decent speed and sure hands.

Look, Maclin is a weapon. But he's never run an NFL route, he plays almost extensively out of the slot, he doesn't block and his preferred routes are: comeback, out and up or post/corner. He doesn't do many others. There's a lot of work to be done to turn him into anything but a deep threat for 2/3 years.

then you find him thru free agency ala bolden..make your splash there instead of the draft. Seems logical to me.

I mean if hicks is there then i guess i would understand, but that just means we are'nt going to get that impact player we desperately need on defense.

i would like to pose this question?

Lets say you could have one of the following { scintim, english, cushing,or aaron cuury} or hakeem nicks. Who you got?

I just think that 1 impactful defensive football player is gonna fall to us in the first, what if Suh fell to us, would you still take hicks?

Our defense needs the infusion of talent moreso then the skill positions on offense, hence going with best available player in the three most pressing needs on D.

Im all for upgrading to a Boldin or Housh....but those 3 guys a year better isnt all that bad.

I agree we need some impact defensive players and one might fall into our lap in the late 1st.

When it's all said and done, we don't have a true #1 WR. Maclin definitely isn't the answer (I'd much rather see Hicks). But I agree with upgrading at LB and DL. However, I truly believe you're kidding yourself if we have a true #1 WR with Ginn, Camarillo, and Bess. All 3 are very capable, but haven't proven themselves to be #1 WRs at all IMO.

I don't really like the idea of spending a big pick on a WR. We don't have a true #1 receiver, but there's a reasonable amount of hope that one will arise between Ginn, Bess, and Camarillo, and putting one of them at the #4 WR seems like a gigantic waste.

Maybe if Henne were starting at this point, and didn't have a QB who can distribute the ball so well.

Thanks everyone I appreciate all the posts. I was just vaguely familiar with the guy and ESPN analysits were all over him just like Ginn a couple of years ago. I wanted to see what y'all thought of him.

    The post funk era
He should be a top 20 pick so any team that would get him after that would be getting a good deal.

I think he has a real good chance at being a faster Santonio Holmes......that's what i see when i've seen him play.
