I'll start out by saying almost nothing would shock me in this draft, except for maybe trading into the top-10 for someone. Which I would not want, in a draft as deep as the one this year.

Wouldn't surprise me to see them move up, trade back, or stay put at 29. Assuming they stay put, I want a pass rusher. Would love Graham, Kindle, or Hughes. There are also rumors that Faneca might get traded/released, and if that were the case, I'd love to somehow get Maurkice Pouncey from Florida to fill the void at LG.

Anyway, looking forward to what should be an exciting draft. What are your predictions for the Jets tonight?

    My prediction is:

With the 29th overall pick in the 2010 Draft, the New York Jets select:

    Sergio Kindle, University of Texas

You think with them acquiring #99, that will change what they do in round one?

No, I don't. Taylor is only here for a year. There have been a lot of rumors about Bryan Thomas possibly being traded. Taylor and Thomas are both up there in years.

Still think OLB is the biggest position of need, DE a close second. A one year rental of JT should not affect the strategy.

Sanchez looks like he could join Gholston in the bust category if he doesnt deliver.

I dont want to hear any excuses from Jets fans. he played like **** with a good supporting cast and if he does the same this year with a better(on paper) team then you might as well consider him a Bust.

Let's completely ignore the progression in his play as the year went on and his 90+ QB rating in the playoffs. Haven't heard one NFL expert that doesn't think Sanchez will be the goods.

They are all smitten by his good looks and charm. I'm serious. If he was ugly, they'd change their tune.

Its cool though. The true hallmark of an NFL QB is completion percentage. Sanchez's was 53%. He also had a TD/INT ratio of 12/20. Compare that to Henne's 60.8% and 12/14 ratio. Henne is just not a pretty-boy.

Give it until the end of this season. Sanchez will be considered a BUST. He'll be sitting alongside Vern Gholston, Dewayne Robertson, Anthony Becht, Blair Thomas.....I could go on and on.

    Apples and Oranges.

Henne had 20+ more college starts then Sanchez, and he got to hold the clipboard on the sidelines for a year behind a veteran QB.

Sanchez's knock coming out of USC was his experience. He showed at the end of the year that he progressed as he got more experience. He is also more naturally talented than Henne, hence where they were taken in the draft. So, Mark has way more upside.

Henne has had SO much more experience it's not even funny. Let's compare in three years. If Sanchez is still throwing more picks than TD's, you win.

About the draft busts, sorry to let you know that that period is pretty much over. Tannenbaum has drafted nothing but studs since he became the Jets' GM in '06, except for the Ghost.

    Cincinnati ~ 12 of 15 for 185 yards and 1 TD

    San Diego ~ 12 of 23 for 100 yards and 1 TD

    Indy ~ 17 of 30 for 257 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT.

Didn't exactly light things up bro. More like a caretaker than an "elite QB".

Aside from the fact that he was sacked ONCE in the postseason. Your line protected him well against three teams not exactly known for punishing defenses.

Let's see what he does when he gets pressured and has to throw more often, which probably will be the case when your "#1" running game - that Rex spouted out of his piehole every chance he got - falls apart around mid-season.

Again, wait a couple of seasons until he is DEVELOPED. Still very inexperienced. This season should be much better stats-wise for Sanchez than last season was.

No. I'm not gonna play by your rules. I win now, cause Sanchez sucks. You have ZERO proof that he does not suck.

Vernon Gholston is a HUGE exception.

I'm honestly not even gonna debate this anymore, as you are extremely ignorant. If you think he didn't show serious potential and promise this year, then well, I don't know.

Of course Gholston is a huge exception. I'm not denying that. He's one of the biggest busts of all time.

You have given me no tangible evidence that Sanchez is anything BUT a bust. All you've stated is that "experts like him" and he is "more naturally talented". That means nothing. Same thing could be said for Ryan Leaf.

What kind of evidence do you want? He's a freakin' rookie who took his team to the AFC Championship in his first season. His stats sucked during the regular season. They didn't in the Playoffs. He got better, and you saw that if you watched the games.

Bust? Spare me. Is having a 90+ passer rating in your first three playoff games considered a "bust?" That's evidence.

I think the Jets took a look at the passing weapons in the AFC East and decided to get a very good corner to pair with the best one in the NFL in Revis.

Wilson can push Cromartie to Nickel duties, eventually.

Kyle Wilson will be better than Cromartie. I wouldnt be suprised if he jumps him on the depth chart, afterall Cromartie does suck donkey balls.

The only reason his rating was so high is because he played safe football.
He did nothing mind blowing, your running game and Defense carried you throughout the playoffs, not Sanchez.

i hate the jets cause they beat my chargers...twice now in the damn playoffs

but they just picked the best cover corner of the draft IMO

they are going to have the best coverage cbs 1-3 , possibly ever

    scary

gotta hope they stumble in other facets of the game if my chargers face them again, cause i do believe they'll win the afc east , they just made a great defense, better IMO

as much as i hate cro cause he's afraid of contact, he's damn damn good in man to man

we were having him play way too much zone in sd

the jets play man to man, his strength

he'll immediately become the best nickel cb in the nfl if he's playing man to man

Rex immediately told the NY Post last night that Wilson will be the nickel back. So Cromartie will be #2, where I think he'll be fine, at least for the 2010 season.

Crazy that Wilson fell that far. Argubly the second best corner prospect in the draft behind Haden.

    Great pickup for the Jets.

    Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State

    Vladimir Ducasse, OG, UMASS

    Joe McKnight, RB, USC

    John Conner, FB, Kentucky

    -----

I am very satisfied with this draft.

Wilson should be a stud in a few years, possibly less. Also, he's good insurance in case Cromartie can't get his s*** together. Great value at pick 29. Almost every single mock had him in the teens. Holmgren debated picking him at 7.

Ducasse is a raw player, kind of a project, but very talented. Jets FO must think highly of him by drafting him in the second round. I predicted this pick. Anyway, he should be in competition for the LG spot left behind by Faneca. Don't know if he'll win right away, but he should be a solid lineman in a few years with some coaching from the best O-Line coach in the league, Bill Callahan.

McKnight is interesting. Never lived up to his hype coming out of high school. Struggled with injuries. 4th Rounder. Replaces Leon, who struggled with injuries at FSU, and then was drafted in the 4th round. He isn't as fast as Leon, but he should still be a good player. Great value in the 4th, as he was projected as a 3rd rounder by most. He'll be third on the depth chart, and will probably be #2 in a year when LT will most likely be gone.

Love the Conner pick also. Tony Richardson is still good, but he is 38. Should probably be his last year. Conner was rated easily as the best FB in the draft, and is an excellent run blocker and a solid pass catcher. Should be the Jets FB for the next decade.

I haven't been happier with a draft by the Jets in a while. Love all these picks.

Can't wait for friggin' football season.

    Thoughts on the new Jets?

Also just signed Donovan Warren, CB from Michigan. Was projected as high as a first rounder in some earlier mocks, but his stock dropped for whatever reason.

Warren was never even close to a first rounder IMO. He is awful. I wanted to gouge my eyes out watching him at Michigan. There's a reason he was a UDFA IMO.

I must've misread the Warren thing. Oh well. Don't expect too much from UDFA's anyway.

They picked up another OG, guy named Tanner from Texas.
