How is going 10-5 with 1 game left to play 'backing in'? Even if the Jags won today we'd still have a shot next week by beating the Bills, AKA CONTROLLING OUR OWN DESTINY.
People throw that term around way too loosely these days. I know there are a bunch of other teams that would love to switch spots with us right now. You spend entirely too much time here, you're starting to think like a Dolphin fan. -

Hey EInstien, the Steelers LOST to the Jets last week and clinched a playoff berth, so essentially, going by your flawed Dolphin fan logic, they backed in as well, n'est-ce pas?
Backed in is what happened last year with the Colts and Bengals essentially taking the game off. We still have 1 game to go and are 10-5, I dont consider that backing in. Either way, I'd rather 'back in' than not be in it at all. Enjoy the offseason :)
Jets will go 11-5 and face the Chiefs wild card weekend. -

You either back in or you dont. There is no in between.

Dont even try to pretend that if given a chance you wouldnt switch places with the Jets right now.
Majority of you said the same last yr and we ended up in the AFC Championship game 30 mins away from the Superbowl. Once you're in the tourney anything can happen. If you're not in it, like our southbeach Mammal rivals, then you just have to watch it from the couch.BicketyBam likes this. -

If the issue up to debate is whether the jets "backed in" or not, the answer is simple: they backed into the playoffs. They are on a 1-3 streak, and they cliched a playoff birth the day they lost their 3rd game in 4 weeks. That is the definition of "backing in".

If Ross does the right thing and brings in a real coach you two will be surprised at what a difference it will make. It will not be unsimilar to when your puke greens ditched Mangini and found somebody else. -
continue to whine like a baby because ur team blows. I'll do your mods a favor and show myself out.

Moral of the story....MEANINGLESS. -

Let the Jets run their mouths and talk crap. They've lost 3 out of their last 4 and are going to be a one and done playoff team. Congrats you made the playoffs....all it gets you is an extra week of football. Zzzzzzzz.

well..had the Colts tried last year in the reg. season, you guys would have been out of the playoffs and you wouldn't be so delusional today.
But..thus is the life of a Jets fan. Always on the on deck circle but thinks they are at second base.jetssuck likes this. -
Hey Jets fans,
Great season thus far. We're a great team and the entire National Football League knows it. I think we should rest Sanchez, LT, Greene, Edwards, Holmes, Keller, Brick, Mangold, Revis, Cromartie, Harris, Pace, and Scott. Start Brunell, Joe McKnight, Brad Smith and Cotch, Hartsock, Turner at center, Kyle Wilson and Drew Coleman at CB.
Let's rest up for the playoffs! -
I'm D-O-N-E Done Done Done arguing about the Jets and Dolphins until the Super Bowl is over after this, because both are nothing compared to the Patriots. The main difference between the Jets and Dolphins is the Jets have been able to squeak by the likes of the Lions, Browns and Broncos while the Dolphins lost to them thanks to Henne's game losing INTs, just switch the Broncos with the Bills. They both have great Top 5 defenses and coaches who struggle with game management. Jets have a better but still young and sketchy QB. Fins probably have better run game that they never use now that LT looks out of gas and old, but Jets have better o-line, at least in the middle. Dolphins have better WRs with Hartline, but a worse QB throwing to them. Both teams are still similar.
Patriots demolished both though and have home field advantage throughout. In 40 years since the 1970 merger the Dolphins have been to the playoffs 22 times, which is a lot. Missing the playoffs doesn't hurt this season because we don't have a QB and if our defense got us there we probably would've got spanked by New England or Baltimore, like in 2001. I don't want to just make the playoffs, I want them to have a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
I do understand why just making the playoffs can excite certain historically struggling franchises though. [I'm obligated to take a jab at the Jets, right?]
Might the Jets draw the Chiefs though? That would be lucky, I don't buy KC. -
I always knew there was no such thing.
