Jets get the Steelers at home next week. With the bye, we could very well suddenly be in 3rd place in 6 days.
Looks like that phantom offensive PI call made a huge difference after all [the one where the corner tripped over himself and NY subsequently got the ball back in great field position following the punt and horse collar call].
Just stop. Jets got a bunch of crappy calls and non-calls. At the end of the day, the Jets played just a little bit better and won....with a rookie QB and a cast of no names at wide receiver. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk now Free
that BS defensive holding call was just the start of making amends for all the BS offensive pass interference calls against Atlanta, namely my aforementioned one that swayed the game in NY's favor to begin with.
It impacted the game in a big way so don't tell me to just stop it. Do you need a refresher? -4th quarter -3rd & 2 -17-14 Jets lead -Pass completed to Roddy White for 5 yards. -Ref call TERRIBLE offensive PI making it 3rd & 12 from Atlanta's 18 instead of 1st & 10 from the 33. -Atlanta doesn't convert the 3rd & 12. -Jets get the ball back on Atlanta's 23 following the punt and gain a short field TD. Just be happy you got the win and escaped by the skin of your teeth thanks to a bad Mike Smith call before halftime and a handful of bad ref calls against the Falcons.
What do you want? Atlanta had the lead with less than 2 minutes in the game. Jets had the ball on their own 20 with a QB that everyone on this forum thinks is a joke and their best wide receiver out. That's not enough for you? You point to a spot in the 3rd quarter? You realize the Falcons scored 2 TD 's after that, right? Stop grasping at straws. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk now Free
They are average at best. Their defense is erratic. Looks great at times and then fails when they need them most. And you all know about the offense. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk now Free
No, they're definitely not terrible... and they have some solid pieces in place to build around. I think they played about as well as they could play tonight, while the Falcons played about as flat and sloppy as they could've tonight.
28 points is pretty good for flat and sloppy. Did they bring their A game when Miami beat them? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk now Free
We will have a lot tougher time then I expected vs them this season. Unless we can fix a few things I can see a split instead of the Sweep i expected earlier this season!
it was the 4th quarter, not 3rd. And yes, I know the Falcons scored 2 TDs on 2 consecutive drives afterward. That only makes my point more valid- that Atlanta was amidst starting to click on offense but had a possession taken away b/c of a terrible call. It is what it is and the Jets capitalized on the subsequent 23 yard short field opportunity so they deserve credit for that of course. No, we thought Sanchez was a joke... and still do. Geno has potential for a future but will draw smack talk by Miami fans b/c he's a Jet... and b/c he's a rookie. Atlanta had their fair share of injuries too, if not more.
That's the one TANNY had his comeback win against, ha. The Falcons are a mess, they were 12-1 to win the superbowl going into the season. This is the new NFL. Last years playoff teams on outside looking in and 2-14 teams looking like sure things to make it. Except it don't seem to work for the Dolphins, ugh.
I don't know if they brought their A game but they looked more like the Falcons from last year than the group on the field tonight. Tonight they seemed like a team that showed up without a sense of urgency and were overlooking NY. Even their fans seemed that way. Meanwhile NY showed up like they wanted it. But you did beat them in their house so.....
I have no delusions about my team. And I think the sting of yesterday's loss and the unexpected Jets win has you a bit upset. Understandable, for sure.
The Jets "unexpected" win isn't a factor in anything for me, and it has nothing to with the clear observation of Atlanta playing flat. I'm not making excuses for your win. I simply dislike watching games that are influenced by poor ref decisions and terrible coaching calls regardless of who the team is, provided Miami isn't playing them at the moment. You see, I already understand that NY's win tonight is insignificant if Miami does its job the rest of the season so I have no reason to be bitter about it. You think we're talking the way we are b/c it's "the Jets", however if you knew better you'd realize we'd be making similar comments about the game if it were Arizona vs St Louis. We comment about games; that's what we do. If refs influence a game we're watching, we comment about it. If a head coach makes a decision that ends up costing his team the game, we comment about it and criticize it. If a team shows up flat & sloppy like they don't want it, we comment about it.
that's why I said the refs "influenced" the game rather than costed Atlanta it. The result of the ref's call was NY getting the ball back deep in Atlanta territory, however, NY was still responsible for capitalizing on it and punching it in. Mike Smith's poor choice to not take the points before halftime might've cost his team the game, however, NY was still responsible for thwarting the touchdown attempt. NY played well and earned their win; it's not NY's fault that Atlanta's coach and the ref made terrible calls, but it did make a win that much easier.
I just took a quick look at the team stats from both the Miami/Atlanta game and last night's game. It's eerie how similar they are. Total yards, first downs, time of possession. Not sure what to make of it other than Atlanta seems to lose in the same fashion. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk now Free
