And Kellen Clemons does not figure to return either.
Rhodes was a pro bowl player previously, and "da Ghost"...what can be said?
I wonder wth happened to him in NJ?

If they cut Kerry Rhodes consider Miami as his future home. Nothing like a former Jet that has a vendetta against that stupid organization. I have no idea why they would let him go he's an excellent FS.
-

I think Rhodes would be an excellent strong safety. He has the strength and the run stopping ability to be even better at that position. He's also quite large and would be a possible cover against TEs with his size with a fast CFer like a Will Allen (the Miami CB) covering FS. It would alleviate the safety position entirely with Culver and Clemons being the backups and would improve the pass defense by a large margin.
Gholston would be worth trying out. No reason not to let Mike Nolan have an extremely talented possibility try to work here. -

Watching some old highlights of him I see exceptional abilities to rush the passer as a DE, whether on the left or the right side. If he were used predominantly as a rush end in the Indy fold on third down set or in a 5-2 set I could see success.
-
Gholston doesn't play ST very well and he won't play in NJ, he really needs to go somewhere and find himself and decide whether or not he wishes to play in the NFL.
The Jest don't have draft picks #3-#5 this year, but they also can't really trade him because of his massive #6 overall contract.Tone_E likes this. -

I don't think it is HGH that is Gholton's issue, I think it is plain old "raw football player" meets "newly overpaid football player", Gholston is one of those guys who got by on physical talent alone, he never really faced competition that is just as strong as he is.
Whatever the reason, Gholston needs a change, even if no other reason we need another name to add to the "Jets draft day mistakes" youtube video.Tone_E likes this. -
Can't figure out why the Jets would cut/trade Rhodes. the guy was considered a top-5 safety not long ago. i'd love to have him
-
However, I really am surprised that R.Ryan couldn't get him on the field. ALthough the NYJ LB corps is great, you'd still think Gholston as a situational pass rusher.
Either way, I would love him as a project, let him take Q.Moses' roster spot. It is no secret that we need an OLB with Porter regressing and Taylor getting older, maybe we can groom Gholston in the meantime. -
If they cut him I'd take him as depth on the cheap and see what Mike Nolan could do with him. But I doubt he does anything of note with his NFL career at this point. Same for Rhodes if they cut him, though I wouldn't pay him top dollar. He's still young, would start here as things stand now, and you know he'd show up big for at least two games a year.
-
Though I really doubt anyone picks up his #6 overall contract, he'd probably pass through waivers and become a FA, that would be one heck of a wake up call for Gholston. -
Rhodes would be a good pickup.
-
Pass on Gholston. So many picked him to be a major bust coming out. Rex Ryan, for all his faults, is an excellent defensive coach, and if he couldn't get anything out of Gholston in a defense that should fit him well, then I think he's a lost cause.
-
Rhodes wants to be a model. He doesn't want to play football.

For those thinking Ghoulston could "Come around" I don't think its possible.
He hasn't played football that long.
He was very much into bodybuilding at one point, and yes I DO think he used to do things that would bring a suspension in the NFL.
He never ever playerd with discipline.
He never had much technique. He has gotten fat and slow.
The kid absolutely had bust written all over him coming out, and it would take a fairy godmother with a working magic wand to bring him around.DolfanCole likes this. -

Vern Gholston should be exiled to Canada so Wally Bouno can work some magic on the lad. -
We let him loose and he smacks us to send our nemesis to playoff contention. Yes Rhodes is quite good. I've seen him play damn well. Ridiculous expectations of Ed Reed and a poor last few games busted your view of him, but I could care less. -
Say no to Gholston!

As I said in my original post in regards to Rhodes applies to Bell and Wilson as well and that's I'm not sure If I would rate them in that order. One of the biggest problems we seemed to have other than blown coverages was missed tackles. As I type it I can't help but think what a horrid combination of problems to have. To me Bell is more of a physical sure tackler than Wilson can ever be. PFF lumps both SS and FS together. I'm not sure how you can do that seeing as they have different responsibility's. We will see how the coaches and FO sorts this "mess" out soon enough I guess.DolfanCole and MikeHoncho like this. -
You won't see me referencing PFF's rankings on this one, Wilson the #16 S in the NFL?
Are teams in the AFCE paying them off to overrate da Gerbil?
They have him giving up 1 TD all year?
What games were they watching. -
