Jets are exploring TO. They say the Bengals are still the front runner but a deal between the Jets and Owens still is considered a long shot; one person estimated the Jets' chances at signing Owens at "20 percent."

It won't. This is all Drew Rosenhaus. It pisses me off though that this is even a story.

I wonder how Jet fans honestly, be deep down excited about how their team is being built?

and on the flip side, love the way we are...young...draft picks...a few young stud free agents....Dynasty....

I would love to see the Jets make that kind of commitment to putting the ball in Mark Sanchez' hands

We actually would be the ones who open the door to the Jets signing T.O.(per Omar Kelly). The Jets were not allowed to sign any more free agents unless they lost one. We helped them out by taking Marques Douglas off their hands. So if they end up signing him we've got no one to blame but ourselves.

I can care less if the Jets sign TO, or anyone else.

As Mike Lombardi put it "Rex Ryan isn't acting like he won 9 games last season. He acts as if he won the Super Bowl"

That team is headed for disaster.

No need to be focused on any other team but our own. If you have a chance to improve the Dolphins roster, you do it.

No way dude. It's the reason you don't trade players inside your own division. Same principle applies. Not that this is the best example, of course.

    Blame?

I'd pat them on the back. T.O. to the Jets would sink that team faster than two torpedoes to the bow.

i pray theres a shred of truth to this. Edwards was taking shots at their OC when he wasn't getting the ball enough last year. Throw in Santonio Holmes and TO, all 3 of them are gonna be crying rivers

If the Jets do this, its just a tactic to reduce production of Edwards and Holmes, in turn diminishing the market for them. Actually would be a smart move in terms of preparing themselves for next offseason, but would hurt the team this year.

I don't think it really helps them next year either. Chances are they were only going to be able to sign one of the two; Edwards or Holmes. I don't think that changes even if TO zaps some of the production of those two guys.

You have to remember the Jets have A LOT of contracts up next year. And there will be a cap. Good times.

This is a list of all the players who are either Restricted or Unrestricted FA's for the Jets next season:

    Shaun Ellis
    Nick Mangold
    Steve Weatherford
    Brodney Pool
    Tony Richardson
    Braylon Edwards
    Wayne Hunter
    David Harris
    Aundrae Allison
    Chauncey Washington
    Robert Turner
    Jason Davis
    Nick Folk
    Antonio Cromartie
    Rodrique Wright
    Lance Laury
    David Clowney
    Santonio Holmes
    Eric Smith
    Brad Smith
    James Ihedigbo
    Drew Coleman
    Kellen Clemens

They signed a former Jet because he is a solid backup, and could most definitely improve their roster. So what if they sign Owens because of it. He is 36 and on the downside of his career. He has been known to have a big mouth and will rip into his teamates if he does not get his way.

This could be a GREAT thing

Most likely there will be a work stoppage next year.

I don't think so. I think they'll come to an agreement. And I don't just say that as an optimistic fan, I think the players will put some serious pressure on their union to get it done.

Have to agree here. Too much money to be lost. If you're 25-28, you're trying to get that payday. If you're over 30, your just trying to keep getting paid anything for another year or two.

The only players who'd be alright with a stoppage would be young guys who are playing through (or legally stuck with) their rookie contracts.

The players say they won't budge....for now MAYBE

But its a fact that the owners will not budge one bit. That's been their stance since the last aggreement. They want players coming out of college to have set contracts and I don't blame them one bit.

This could be very ugly, and the players union will have to give in on a lot for it to happen.
