I look at those 6 factors, plug Joey Porter into the equation and it becomes clear to me why he is now a Cardinal.
As for the Jets, they did it to themselves, by relying heavily on free agency as well as trading for players who know there could be a large contract just around the corner, personal financial priorities raise themselves as legitimate issues.
Sign Revis to a large deal and Nick Mangold then has a good case for a large deal, sign Mangold then Ferguson has a case for a long term deal.

To be fair, they drafted all three of those guys.
But Revis' demands.....you can blame that squarely on Al Davis making Nnamdi Asomugha the NFL's highest paid player.Wagon Circler, adamprez2003 and gafinfan like this. -
Some large money went to pick those guys up and if one is on the Jets roster and has made the pro bowl sooner or later the "where is my money?" line of thinking will appear, that is a part of the reason why Leon Washington was given away to the Seahawks..he expected to be paid, ditto Thomas Jones.Tone_E likes this. -
This is something I've been looking forward to, time to pay the ballooning mortgage...... I see more tears in Rexy's future.

Am I the only one who got a little giddy seeing the words "Jets" and "suffering" in the same sentence?

It's not a great situation, but the Jets are putting all of their chips in for this season. It doesn't seem like there's much being given to the future. The future is 2010 for them.
Those three guys could be distracted a bit this season. And it's hard to imagine -- with a salary cap in place -- they'd be able to keep all three of them as well as those free agents you listed. Mangold is arguably the best center in the league, and will want a deal like the one Jahri Evans just got.
And we haven't even talked about Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes being in the last year of their deals.
I understand the thinking in cutting cutting Thomas Jones, for money and promoting Greene. But it left a sour taste in the locker room. A 10-year vet and team leader gives you career highs in yards and TD's (and carries) after leading the conference the previous year.....and you cut him rather than pay his bonus.Pandarilla, cnc66 and Disnardo like this. -
The Jets are looking for payout this year... as REX SAID... It's SB or Bust...
Revis in that same article has stated that he will hold out if he is not taken care off correctly by the Jets FO...
If they don't start off strong like they did last year, you will see a lot of whining from these same me players...
Well at least NY has the Giants... -
Will it have a ripple-effect? Will they not be able to sign Mangold? Maybe, but losing Mangold isn't the same as losing the best CB in the game. -
If I'm honest, this is all music to my ears.

Beautiful. His fat butt just keeps climbing that faulty ladder. Higher and higher. -
Well if nothing else they've definitely got a case of narcissism:
.."“It’s like All-Madden,” said FB Tony Richardson. “We’re pretty stacked. It’s exciting to see that many playmakers on offense and defense as well as special teams. It’s fun to come to work because there are so many different things that we have the ability to do now.”.....
...ok..All Madden? wow!
