The Dolphins are a 6.5-point favorite over the Jets in NFL Week 14 odds for the game, courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook. Miami is -300 on the moneyline, while New York is +240. The over/under (point total) is set at 45 points. NFL Week 14 picks, predictions: The Arizona Republic: Dolphins 24, Jets 21 Jeremy Cluff writes: "This game means so much more to the Dolphins, who are not out of the NFL playoffs race. We also trust Miami more than New York right now." Sportsnaut: Dolphins 24, Jets 17 Matt Johnson writes: "The Miami Dolphins evidently have problems beating great teams. Fortunately, the New York Jets don’t resemble anything close to that. Miami’s run defense should have success containing Breece Hall and its pass rush can rattle Aaron Rodgers. With how quickly Tua Tagovailoa gets rid of the football, New York’s defense also won’t be able to consistently hit Tua Tagovailoa the way they did Geno Smith this past week. Miami walks out win a win, keeping its playoff hopes alive." Sports Betting Dime: Dolphins 14.9, Jets 12.2 The site's formula predicts that the Dolphins will win the NFL Week 14 game against the Jets. ESPN: Dolphins have a 55.9% chance to beat Jets on Sunday The site gives the Jets a 43.8% shot at winning the NFL Week 14 game, with the remaining percentage accounting for a tie. Dimers: Dolphins 24, Jets 22 It writes: "After extensive simulations, our model gives the Jets a win probability of 44%, while the Dolphins have a win probability of 56%."
The Dolphins are getting a pair of defensive players back on the field this week. Head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters in his Monday press conference that linebacker Bradley Chubb and linebacker Cameron Goode will both return to practice on Wednesday. Chubb and Goode are both currently on the reserve/physically unable to perform list after suffering major injuries last season. Chubb tore his ACL in Week 17 while Goode suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in the last week of the season. Both players could help out a Miami team that currently ranks No. 8 in yards allowed but No. 14 in points allowed. After the Thanksgiving night loss to the Packers that put the team at 5-7, the Dolphins will host the division-rival Jets for the first of two matchups this season in Week 14.
New York Jets defensive back D.J. Reed had an explicit message for NFL officials after the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon. Reed, who is a starter in the secondary, wrote his message on X. Seattle defeated New York, 26-21. "@NFLOfficiating you F-----G suck, yall should be ashamed of yall selves.!" Reed wrote in a post. Reed was called for holding early in the first quarter against the Seahawks. The Jets were penalized 12 times for 83 yards in the game. Two of the penalties came on a crucial drive for the Seahawks. Seattle running back Zach Charbonnet ran for the go-ahead 8-yard touchdown with 5:34 left in the game. But the drive was extended twice as Jets players Qwan'tez Stiggers and Solomon Thomas were called for penalties on 4th downs that gave Seattle new sets of downs. It was a tough day for the Jets as they led 21-7 early in the second quarter. But crucial turnovers and lack of offense in the second half doomed them to defeat. Reed played in the 10th game of the 2024 season on Sunday. Coming into the contest, he had recorded 37 tackles and eight pass breakups along with one sack. He had seven tackles and a pass breakup against the Seahawks. Reed is likely to get a fine for criticizing the officials. Pro Football Talk noted that Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett was hit with a $25,000 fine for calling officiating a "travesty" last year after a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sources consider #Jets corner Sauce Gardner's status up in the air this week due to hamstring injury. Team should know more later in week, see how he responds. Gardner has missed one game since entering the league in 2022. He's coming off one of his better games of the season.
Sauce Gardner may not be available in Miami this weekend. Gardner injured his hamstring in last Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said the team is still assessing the severity of the injury after getting an MRI done earlier in the week. Ulbrich suggested that assessment is leaning toward Gardner missing the game, but a final call won’t come until later in the week. “He plays a position and we’re playing an opponent that you cannot play with a poor hamstring, in my opinion,” Ulbrich said, via SNY. “We’ll see how it goes. If he’s feeling good and ready to rock and roll, then we let him play. If not, this is not a game we want him half speed.” Gardner was an All-Pro in his first two seasons, but his play has not been up to the same level for most of this season. His absence would still be a plus for the Dolphins’ hopes of bouncing back with a win this weekend.
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill didn’t take part in the first Dolphins practice of Week 14. Hill was listed as out of practice with the wrist injury that has made him a regular on the injury report in recent weeks. Rest was also given as a reason why Hill did not join the team on the field. Hill has missed other practices, but has not missed any games this season and there’s no sign he’s at risk of missing this week’s matchup with the Jets. Left tackle Terron Armstead (knee), defensive tackle Calais Campbell (rest), tackle Kendall Lamm (back, elbow), and linebacker Anthony Walker (hamstring) were also out of practice Wednesday. Edge rusher Bradley Chubb (knee) and linebacker Cameron Goode (knee) were both limited in their first practice since being designated to return from the physically unable to perform list. Cornerback Kendall Fuller (concussion), defensive tackle Benito Jones (shoulder, back), cornerback Kader Kohou (back), running back Raheem Mostert (hip), safety Jordan Poyer (rest, finger), and offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn (quad, knee) were also listed as limited participants.
The jests are a dumpster fire and we should hold the advantage in this game. Keep playing ball control and that should result in a win. I like that Fuller is back and will allow us to control their WRs. The longer Rodgers has to hold onto the ball the better our chances. Behind that line and given his physical regression, Chop should be able to put pressure on Rodgers and force mistakes and misfires. Dolphins 21 Jests 13
I'm going to bet the fish to cover the spread. Jets have thrown in the towel and this is the type of team we usually bury at home. After that though I won't bet them again
5 Players on the Jets who could have an impact RB Breece Hall Like the rest of the Jets’ players, running back Breece Hall expected to have a better season than he has had. But Hall is still a great young back. Through 12 games, he has 164 carries for 692 yards, four touchdowns, and five fumbles. His 57.7 yards per game have him on pace to miss the 1,000-yard rushing mark, a milestone he still hasn't reached in his NFL career. The Dolphins have allowed the ninth-fewest rushing yards in the league this season, but Miami’s pass defense is even better. Hall could be leaned on if the Miami secondary is shutting down Rodgers and the Jets' pass game. WR Davante Adams The Dolphins are seventh best in the NFL in passing yards allowed this season. But their biggest weakness in the secondary is in danger of being exploited Sunday. Adams, a teammate of Rodgers for eight seasons in Green Bay, is most often utilized in the slot, meaning he could see a lot of Dolphins defensive back Kader Kohou (assuming he's healthy enough to play through a back injury). The nickel corner simply isn’t suited to guard Adams. Adams hasn’t had the best season of his career by any stretch, but he still works better with Rodgers than anyone else. In his six games with the Jets, Adams has 31 catches for 344 yards and two touchdowns. G Alijah Vera-Tucker The New York offensive line has been solid this season, and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker may be the best player on the line. Tucker has been a versatile piece since he was drafted by the Jets with the No. 14 pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The only position the team hasn’t tried him at is center. And no matter where he plays, he’s an impact player. Zach Sieler and Calais Campbell have been good for the Dolphins this year, but Miami’s interior defensive line is far from formidable. With a matchup against Vera-Tucker and the Jets scheduled for Sunday, it’s hard to imagine this week will be one of the Dolphins' best performances. DT Quinnen Williams Williams typically lines up in the B gap, but he’s still second on the team in sacks. He has 33 total tackles, six sacks, and eight tackles for loss. It doesn’t matter who is on the other side of the line of scrimmage, Williams is always a threat. Miami’s guards are less than inspiring, so Williams could be in for a strong performance. If Robert Jones and Liam Eichenberg slow him, it would be surprising but significant. CB Sauce Gardner While he isn’t playing quite as well as usual, there’s an argument for cornerback Sauce Gardner as the best corner in the NFL. He’s athletic and lanky, giving him the ability to shut down any receiver in the league on any given day. Lucky for Miami, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have the athleticism to combat Gardner’s talents. But that’s no guarantee. Pro Football Focus has given him a grade of 70.5 so far this year, which is by far a career-low mark. He’s credited with allowing 24 catches for a career-worst 382 yards and only one touchdown. If the Dolphins don’t have much success on the ground, Gardner has all the skills to be able to slow the passing attack as well.
The first Miami Dolphins' second injury report of Week 14 brought nothing but positive developments. There were five changes on the injury report from Wednesday and all involved a step forward, whether from not practicing to limited or limited to full participation. Maybe the best news of all involved cornerback Kendall Fuller, who was a full participant Thursday and likely will be back in the lineup for the game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Elsewhere, Tyreek Hill (wrist/rest), Kendall Lamm (back/elbow), Anthony Walker Jr. (hamstring) and Jordan Poyer (rest/finger) all went from DNP to limited. The only player who didn't practice Thursday was tackle Terron Armstead, who continues to deal with a knee injury but hasn't missed a game because of it. PUP players Isaiah Wynn, and outside linebackers Bradley Chubb and Cameron Goode, the latter two at practice for the first time all season this week, again were limited. Long-snapper Blake Ferguson again was a full participant after being designated to return from the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list Wednesday. Other players who again were limited Thursday were DT Benito Jones (shoulder/back), RB Raheem Mostert (hip) and CB Kader Kohou (back). Fullback Alec Ingold again was listed as a full participant, though he's still dealing with a calf issue. JETS INJURY REPORT The Jets' injury report Thursday went the other way, with three downgrades and one upgrade. LB C.J. Mosley (neck) went from a full participant to not working Thursday; guard John Simpson showed up on the injury report and didn't practice because of illness; and CB Qwan'tez Stiggers was another addition with an illness that had him limited. The one upgrade involved tackle Morgan Moses (knee/shoulder), who went from DNP to limited. But CB Sauce Gardner (hamstring), RB Breece Hall (knee) and G Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) all missed practice for a second consecutive day. Rookie first-round pick Olu Fashanu, the team's new starting left tackle, again was limited with a toe injury. WR Allen Lazard (chest) and OL Wes Schweitzer (finger) again were full participants after being designated to return Wednesday,
I can't possibly see the Jets getting up for this game. They're gonna be out Saturday night. Hall isn't playing. Gardner isn't playing. Tua owns them. 41-20 dolphins.
This is a game we should win and win easily. The Jets are a hot mess and expect that entire team to be purged in the off season.
Let’s start this run hopefully we’re gonna do on Sunday.. let’s see if they they have the chemistry to do it. it would mean that they have not lost faith in their head coach if they win them all
If he did say that, I imagine Rodgers will have his one "turn back the clock" game and it'll be against us. In fact, Rodgers only owns the Bears more than he's owned us throughout his career.
I finally heard the sound bit, it’s not as bad as it was made out to be, but that was to be expected.
After how Rodgers 2 years in New York have panned out…Achilles tear on the 3rd snap of the 2023 season and the global warming meltdown of the 2024 season, Rodgers wants OUT of Gotham via trade, cut or retire. There’s no way…NO WAY a hall of famer could possibly want to run that dumpster fire back for a 3rd year. With that said, I sure as sh!t hope Rodgers doesn’t find his testicular fortitude and make Tua eat his words.
That's what I've been so upset about with our offensive line. The 1st and goal after the DPI. You have the ball on the 1/2 yard line and your offensive line gets pushed BACK when trying to run the ball up the gut? Your offensive line should be able to push that defensive line BACK at least a yard or 2. They have the advantage of knowing the snap count and WHEN to launch...and they still got pushed back. Glad we got the TD, but that play just infuriated me!
Not a big fan of Achane in those goal line situations as well, they should use one of our „bigger“ backs in those situations at least when they run it up the middle… Rodgers seems to enjoy that Florida weather, maybe he’ll won’t fly back to NY and go right into retirement…
