Per Rotoworld:
The New York Daily News reports free agent OT Damien Woody has opted to retire.
Woody was only going to play for the Jets. He must not have liked what he heard from the team earlier in the day. Coming off a torn Achilles at age 33, he was a poor bet to land a guaranteed deal. Woody began his career as a two-time Super Bowl champ and Pro Bowl center with the Patriots and ended it as a dominant run-blocking right tackle. Sandwiched in between was a disappointing four-year run as a guard in Detroit. Woody is expected to pursue a career in television.

Which leads the Jets to:
Jets agreed to terms with OT Wayne Hunter on a four-year contract.
Coach Rex Ryan called Hunter the best backup tackle in the league late last season, so the Jets clearly value him as an insurance policy. Hunter figures to slot in as the swing tackle again this year. The 30-year-old also doubles as a blocking tight end in "jumbo" offensive formations.

The Jets have reportedly extended a long-term contract offer to free agent Santonio Holmes.
The Jets extended the offer just as the Redskins locked up Santana Moss. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini predicts the Jets will "wrap up" a deal with Holmes within 48 hours. GM Mike Tannenbaum has made it clear that Holmes is his priority.

It's also good news that the team we're bidding with, the Redskins, re-signed Santana Moss. I know he plays the slot but it makes me happy! -
They're gonna pay him in weed?

My bad, Boik. I didn't see this thread at all!

Holmes signed by Jets

Move to AFCE forum. I don't want our Dolphins forum cluttered every time the jets make a move. They suck.

Expected to be close to 10mil a year deal? lmao please tell me this is correct.

5 year 50 million, 24 guaranteed.

Great news! Tanny is a genius.. He's so smart when it comes to numbers.

I'm no cap guy but isn't the signing bonus spread through each year of contract as far as the cap hit? If he got 24 mil on a 5 year contract shouldn't he have just under 5 mil a year on the books before the base pay is even included? Am I completely wrong because I thought that's how it's always been.

Thats what I thought as well which would make him cost 5.8M on 2011 cap if as he said 1M base salary this year.
