Was hired as Tampa's new DC. I guess I am putting this thread here to give him his due respect. With a nice role here in Miami, then with short stints in Green Bay and Denver, its nice to see he is still a well respected DC in this league and teams still want him to run their defenses. I for one am greatful he ran our defense from 2000 to 2005.

IMO this was a bad move by the Bucs. -
In fact, when Bates took over as interim HC, he changed the defense. We stopped trying to treat Jeff Zgonina and Brian Robinson like they were 350+ pound 2-gap DTs like Larry Chester and Tim Bowens,and ran a more 1-gap oriented scheme with more blitzing. -
