The debate over who should play the lead role, which had dominated the IMDB boards for who knows how long, will probably pick up steam again.

I had been looking forward to JLA, but got really disenchanted with the actors:
Superman: DJ Cortona
Batman: Armie Hammer
Wonder Woman: Megan Gale
Flash: Adam Brody
Aquaman: Santiago Cabrera
Green Lantern: Common
The only one who was nearly a good choice, and IMO, not the best was Megan Gale. That being the case I hope that they table for it now and bring it back under a new director later.

yeah that list of actors for JLA really is disapointing
-
I read somewhere that the WW movie is gonna be an origins story.

How is a Latino actor going to pull off blonde-haired, blue-eyed Aquaman???
*EDIT*
Wow...just looked at all the actors. Aside from Gale, this cast is horrific.Last edited: Apr 24, 2008 -
My point exactly. DJ Cortona also looks Latin, as opposed to Superman. When they first announced it I got pumped up. Now, I'm glad that they're tabling it.
-
Flash and Aquaman were both blonde, so they cast two dark-haired, dark-skinned actors to play them.
I don't get it...they can't find two blonde actors in Hollywood??? -
Actually, the current Flash is Wally West, not Barry Allen. That was a hard pill for me to swallow also because Barry was my Flash growing up while Wally was "Kid Flash." However, Barry died and Wally assumed the title. Ryan Reynolds had been touted for the role.
As for Aquaman, you got me. It's ridiculous. One of the reasons often cited for this cast is cost, they wanted lower-priced actors because there wasn't enough budget for superstars. However, there's Paul Walker, who just by being in the movie will offset his price for playing the part, as legions of chicks will flock to the theaters to see him in a skin-tight speedo. My personal choice was Jason Lewis, who has fierce-looking blue eyes, fit the King of the Seas. There's another guy named Gabriel, whose last name I don't remember. Another poster at IMDB kept proposing him over and over.Last edited: Apr 24, 2008 -
I know about Wally...but if JLA was supposed to be the origin, it would be Barry, no?
Megan Gale though... -
I don't think that's where it was going because then you'd have to go into the origins of each character. That's why a lot of people were also against the movie in the first place.
I'm hot and cold about Megan Gale. She's gorgeous with a hot body, but If you look at some of the shots, it looks like she has a man-face. Anyway, I like her much more than Jessica Biel, whom they had first chosen. Wonder Woman can lift an aircraft carrier, but she should still look like a beautiful, lithe woman. Awhile ago I really wanted Caterina Murino in the role. She's beautiful, face and body-wise, she's just a bit too short. -

Linda Carter will always be Wonder Woman ;)

I've been disappointed in WB treatment of Wonder Woman since I heard Joss Whedon was attached to the project and let go. I'd really like to see what Whedon could do with a big-budget comic-book movie. Serenity was a vastly underrated piece of film, and Firefly was even better.

The Left says, oops sorry, wrong forum.

Also, Beyonce wants the role.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! -
What cause she's black she cant be wonder woman? Racist:wink2:
-
It's been debated up and down backwards and forwards at IMDB with both WW and Superman.
Okay, am I racist? I do believe that Wonder Woman should be caucasian because that's the character that we know. I just can't picture her as black or Asian. I also can't picture a black Superman. There was a poster who there who once stated that Superman could be any race and it went through about 8 pages with virtually everyone disagreeing with him. With WW I once posted that she should be white and to call it racism casts would seem to be playing the race card. Claiming racism for things like that casts doubt on when racism actually does occur. A black woman posted in agreement with me.
There are black superheroes. I was a DC kid so I don't know too much about the ones in Marvel, but in our "universe" you have Cyborg, Nubia, Red Tornado, the John Stewart version of Green Lantern, inter alia.

I couldn't imagine those characters being white. Is that racist? -

Hard to tell without seeing your face.

Thats the problem with the series of tubes, its difficult to determine the tone in which someone is typing UNLESS ITS IN ALL CAPS, EVEN THAT DOESNT MEAN SOMEONE IS ANGRY THOUGH.Miamian likes this.

When Whedon was attached, I was hoping for Morena Baccarin (Inara from Firefly), but with him out I'm kind of at a loss as to who I'd like to see play the role.
Here's some that I wouldn't mind seeing:
- Catherine Zeta Jones
- Jessica Biel
- Rosario Dawson
Like I said, I'm confident this project is going to blow chunks since they got rid of Whedon, but we'll see what happens.
They cast Beyonce, though, and this film heads straight into Catwoman territory. -
I love Beckinsale, but is she tall enough?

I don't know what's scary, the fact that you knew that, or the fact that you knew it off the top of your head. Stalker. :no:Phinperor likes this.

There's a consensus at IMDB that she should be about 5'10, so Beckinsale might be too short.

And then there's this:
Beyonce wants to play Wonder Woman -
Uh..uhm.
Another issue is how she looks in the tiara vis a vis the comic. To me it doesn't look right.

No! Ack! Gag!
