I think Berger is a serviceable center, but I’m not sure he’s someone I’d build an offensive line around. I’m on the fence about that subject, but this Sunday’s game against the Steelers, which will feature Berger taking on Pro Bowl nose tackle Casey Hampton, will either make me a buyer, or a seller.
Pittsburgh’s opponents are averaging 2.7 yards per carry against the Steelers. Berger and the boys need to do something about that.
The Dolphins signed Grove last offseason because they were confident he could handle the premiere nose tackles, mostly by himself. And he did when healthy. I need to know if Berger can do that as well. I need to know if he can be the anchor for the Dolphins’ offensive line for season’s to come.
Hampton’s WELL in the 350-pound range, and every time he comes to South Florida he melts because of the heat and humidity. This Sunday’s 1 p.m. game should be no different.
Berger and the Dolphins have got to be able to move him for Ronnie and Ricky to find enough room to work against Pittsburgh’s forceful front line.
During this unfiltered Berger talks about what it was like to beat out a friend for his starting spot, how much he learned from Grove, and why his long standing relationship with McQuistan (they played together in Dallas)is benefiting the offensive line.
