The only thing he'll be evaluated on is wins and losses. They're not going to look at a random instance in week 2 where he got conservative.

Which is why I said I haven't written him off. This year, however, I'm paying a lot more attention to him...hoping to see much more good than bad...I realize nobody's perfect...but that was a real stinker...in several aspects (and I don't think RT was one of the top 3 reasons).

I think it's yet another example of finding a defense against the horrible realization that the first, first-round QB picked by the team since Dan Marino isn't working out. If we can concentrate our outrage on one decision made by the head coach at one point in the game, we don't have to think as much about the fact that the player the team's fortunes ride on primarily hasn't played well in his last four games with the team, and doesn't appear to be developing in the right direction.

Notice that in the discussion about Philbin's decision, there is very little emphasis on how it likely had something to do with Tannehill's poor play. What does that tell you?

Tannehill said he doesn't blame him? Sheesh.. I may be on the start Moore bandwagon sooner than expected.

Really should have got this loser Philbin out of here in the offseason. I thought I was just being a hot head after last season's collapse but nope. I still have no faith in this gutless fool.

RT is having confidence problems...Lazor even talked about it today. He needs to come out of that soon or else it'll fester and kill his career.

Tannehill's not in a position to blame him. What, should Tannehill say something like, "well with the way I was playing, I think the coach should've let me try to drive down the field for a score."

If anything, Tannehill needs to learn the lesson that if he isn't playing well, he's going to be reined in by the coach for the benefit of the team. If you're not playing well, don't expect to be treated like anything but a game manager.

I read through more of the thread and saw that Tannehill actually said the competitor in him wanted to go for it, so fair play on that. As for his performance that's a different story.

Philbin needs a nut check, and when they find he actually does have a vagina, he needs to be booted out of here asap.

There is a good chance Tanne's lack of confidence is an extension of the coach. A coach should instill confidence in his QB even when he is struggling.

There's a better chance in my opinion that Tannehill's lack of confidence, if it exists, is an extension of his own play.

I really dont think he made this decision thinking game was over, I think he may have been shell shocked at how bad we were. I didnt have a huge issue with it, although I wouldnt have done it. I understand why he did it, and certainly he was not a coward doing it...

Honestly, it was one of the most cowardly coaching decisions I've ever seen. It was historically bad and there isn't any defense of it. I get that fans want to be fair weather but no coach worth a single **** would not have gone for it there. Not one.

It was 3rd and 1, on Miami's 35, and Miller runs it for 6 yards. Time runs out though after that play. That is a 2nd first down, on the 41. They moved it almost 30 yards on 6 runs. When you get to the 40 you can start throwing it with confidence, and use the sidelines if necessary. My point was, you don't keep running it after you move it away from your end zone. He had no confidence they'd be that successful running yet they proved him wrong. So now, do you see we are right and you are wrong? ;)

It's not something I would have done, but, the passing game was putrid and you're not about to put it all in Tanne's hands. The running game could hardly get them a first down. They tried to get a first down, but the offense was super stale. Again, it didn't seem like a good time to put it all in Tanne's hands, especially given the fact that he was playing horrible up until that point. The week before, they went into halftime, made adjustments, came out on fire and spanked the Patsies. It would stand to reason that they may be able to do the same thing. They were horrible up to that point. Make adjustments, settle Tanne down and get his head screwed on right. They were getting the ball to start the half. Not unreasonable. Again, it's not something I would have done, but I'm a fan. Just looking at both sides and I really think this is small potatoes compared to the more serious issues.

Since we've all spent a lot of time bashing Philbin and Tanne, how about we start bashing Lazor. What the f--k is he doing with Tanne? I think Tanne has certain fundamental issues that have nothing to do with any OC, but what happened to using this kid's supposed athleticism and getting him on the move and some option stuff, etc. We saw a bit of it, but nearly as much as we should, imo. I've liked so much about Lazor and still do.

This is a bit in jest, but mostly serious. :pointlol:

Connect stunts like that to wins and losses. IF he is coaching like that he is likely losing.

If the Colts win tonight 20 teams will be one and one through two weeks. That is parody.

Joe appears to be strong at things that some of us believe don't make a major difference on game day. It was humorous two years ago on Hard Knocks. No one is laughing today. I like Monty Python and dry humor in general so his personality probably wouldn't bother me. But if he is a decent organizer, but poor as a motivator, he better have some game planning skills. I don't see that yet. Prior to this year his staff was known for not making good game time adjustments. I don't know. I want to be fair to him. But I am slightly skeptical he will suddenly change his emotion meter, but he could be a better game manager. But Sunday he took a few steps backward. I want some winning this year. Just win and shut all of us up.

Southern Mississippi had 19 straight winning seasons. After losing Larry Fedora to North Carolina, and making a very poor decision to hire Ellis Johnson, the program took a major step back. They went winless under Johnson, and after a coaching change they won 1 game last year. The new roster is having to learn to win again in spite of the tradition. I second the notion that winning and losing is contagious.

This goes beyond wins and losses. When your team basically refuses to play the game, that makes it embarrassing and difficult to be a fan of the team. And that is reflected in $$.

How would we do it? Philbin as HC, Sparano as OL coach, Saban as DC, CamCam as OC, and Pornstache coach STs?

Tannehill's passer rating in the 2nd half was 86 until he threw that int on a desperation pass on our final play. He was 69 in the 1st half. While 69 is a fun number, it isn't an acceptable passer rating. :)
