John Clayton thinks he would be available for any kind of a draft pick.
Dolphins QB John Beck is available for any compensation amount, according to ESPN's John Clayton.
Clayton says any team "need only make an offer" to get Beck. The Dolphins are still trying to clear any Cam Cameron holdovers off their roster. The Ravens could show some interest in Beck as competition for No. 2 QB Troy Smith.

Makes me think if we do get rid of him before the Draft, then we might be really looking at adding Pat White. JMO.

Eh, IMO Beck never really had much of a chance in Miami, and if he is traded it should serve as a warning to starting a young Qb on a terrible team, it just tarnishes them as long as they are with the team.

I can't see us taking a 7th for him. I wouldn't let him go for anything less than a 5th.

The Dolphins did bring in a QB draft prospect for a look at Davie which may be an alternative for a late round pick in case Beck is shipped out

we need to get what we can for him. But i hope its atleast a 5th, maybe a 4th.
-
Nah, no one is going to give us more than a 6th for him if that.
They know we don't want/need him and he hasn't proven anything and didn't show much when he was in.
I seriously see him getting shipped out during the second day of the draft for a 7th.texanphinatic likes this. -

I wish we'd get a high enough pick for him to use on T A&M QB Stephen McGee, but I don't see that happening now. :(

unfortunately we are at the mercy of bidders and IMO wont get higher than a 6th. Its too bad after 7 professional games, 2 full TC's, 30,000 balls, and working exclusively with Lee, he still couldnt, "get it right".

The Ravens would want him over Troy Smith.....

Let's not get into an argument over Beck guys. Trade him, and let him continue his career somewhere else.

I hope he gets traded to a team with no QB. I would love to see what he would do over a full season.

The team is admitting that they don't expect to get squat for Johnny Boy. Anyone that thinks we are going to get a 4th round pick in return needs to lay off the ganja... We got a 6th round pick for a starting center, we'll be lucky to get any compensation for Beck.

Everyone here already knows it, but I'm just going to come out and say it..
...that 2007 draft orchestrated by Candy was an absolutely pathetic display. I mean, that has to have been one of the worst drafts by this organization in recent memory (and considering some of the drafts during the Wannstedt era, that's saying something).
Aside from Ginn, its not out of the realm of possibility that we'll have no one from that draft on this roster next year (depending on what happens with the development of Soliai). -

At this point, the team has no leverage, if in fact, they are trying to trade him. I think the point is that because of circumstances before this regime arrived, he has no value to this regime. Whether or not he has what it takes is undetermined at this point, because of Penny and Henne....he won't get that chance here so he would be better served moving on...As to the Trio, they must feel they can get something better in the draft and probably pay less as our #3 QB... -
Beck clearly has no redeeming qualities on the field (not sure how much of a factor his off the field actions play in to this), thus our desire to move him for basically nothing. I wonder if McCown was worth more on the open market last year when the decision was made to trade him instead of Beck. -

I think it's more likely that with Penny and Henne, his qualities are not needed, not that he doesn't have any redeeming qualities on the field. Funny how most experts say that it takes 3 yrs for a kid coming out of college to show his wares in the NFL, but because he was not prepared to be able to start in this league, yet was pushed into it, he's a bust...that's neither here nor there now because this regime has made it's choices and that's fine. The fact still remains that Beck is an unknown quantity at this point....too many times, a youngster is put into a bad situation and then labeled for the rest of his career...at any rate, the debate of Beck as an entity for the Fins going forward is over and the best they can do is try to get something in return. Some of us just seem to think that the regime in 2007 had more to do with Becks' showing poorly than his abilities or lack thereof.....

We fell for John Beck, reached with both arms stretched and straining. He represented hope for the core of this fan base, the true fans like you and I who have been drowning along side this football team with every snap, season, and selection desperately flailing for any flotation apparatus. Fortunatley, the pigskin gods have favored us with a cruise ship salvage. IMO even a long-shot 7th round pick in the hands of our regime holds more value than a 3rd string QB.

I was really against the John Beck pick. I stated then that passing on Brady Quinn and picking up Ted Ginn and John Beck was a really dangerous move for Cameron. That if those moves didn't pan out and pan out quick that he'd be out of a job. Part of it was Beck's Age. He was a couple years older than the other QB's but that experience didn't make him any better. In fact it made it more likely that he'd reached his potential already. And the few chances John has had since then he has not impressed. He might not have been a bad draft pick, but he was definitely the wrong pick for this team.

Its a shame that this team has had so many draft picks that didn't pan out. Of course the same could be said with trades and free agency since there has been so many failed attempts there too. Looking at it from the outside its easy to see that is what got Miami where they were in their 1-15 season. Beck may have been a decent quarterback in the right system with a better surrounding cast, who knows? The fact now is that he has a very difficult task here of regaining the teams trust and his own confidence and being such he has gone from a quarterback with potential to a quarterback who's a project. Just like Weinke he was too old when he was drafted to be a project quarterback. I wish him the best but I don't think he has any chance for a career in Miami.
