Here's the story as told by his cousin on a blog: Bill Parcells called Nalbone with the news, one Jersey guy to another, evidently. Nalbone was so excited/relieved/grateful that he forgot Parcells was with the Dolphins.
He thought Parcells was a Cowboy, and thanked him, and said it was great to be a Cowboy and he was always a Cowboys fan and he couldn't wait to play for America's Team. (Cue the "How 'But The Cowboys!" sound byte.)
"I guess the phone was just silent and then he realized what he just said,'' Nalbone's cousin writes. "(Tony) Sparano just laughed and told him to get ready for camp."
