http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...ree-other-dolphins-sidelined-by-injuries.html Oddly, Wake and Roth were working Porter's weakside OLB slot, with JT remaining on the Strongside, that seems reveresed.. And how about Lydon Murtha filling in for Smiley at Guard? Amazing to me, the guy is an athletic freak but boy that was a short trip from Lions practice squad to fillin on the Dolphins practice days.
Murtha is the real deal emerging @ 6'7" & 315 & a 4.4 something 40. the guy is a serious athelete & almost a mirror of Jake Long @ RT. Murtha is a prototype H-Back/Blocking TE, as well as Tackle or Guard should be fun to watch his development within the Orca Pod
I honestly dont know that its a loss if Porter cant go on Sunday. He has been pretty much invisible while Wake has made quite a few waves in limited snaps.
I'm a Wake homer but would not want to see him starting at WOLB yet D117, too raw, I'd be happy with flopping JT to the weak side, starting Anderson and rotating Roth into games unless they deem him to be in game shape already. All JP sitting really should mean is Wake sees more snaps as a Nickel Rushing DE, the role he excels in performing. I could live with JT/Roth as our starting OLB's until JP get's that hammy right.
Big risk, Wake is admittedly raw as an all around OLB, but he can rush the passer, we are at a key juncture in the season, win the next two, make it to .500 and leave the Bills and possibly the Jets behind us. I'd go with JT/Roth/Anderson and let Wake takeover JP's passrushing role as a DE.
Wake can go anyway you place him, was thinking more of JT @ WLB, but as long as they both start, the stats will begin to climb for the pass rush
Well, Joey Porter's problem is coming to light: That explains some things, but the real point is Sparano rarely very rarely discusses specific injuries with players, that tells me that JP is going to see significantly less playing and spot duty at best. Imho Sparano saying that is a bit like admitting JP isn't 100% and it is effecting his play.
Maybe he could help us out at TE? He would be able to attack the seams downfield and would be the big red-zone target we've been missing the last couple of years. Why not?? His hands can't be any worse than Fasano's...
Smiley has been the weak spot in the OL ... he does well pulling, but in pass protection and straight run blocking, he didn't seem to be doing very well .... so it is not surprising that the staff is trying other options .... the fact that Murtha is the guy and jumped over Garner at G ... well that is shocking actually -- but in a good way. Gardner needs more strength and reps to be ready at T, and same can be said for Hartline at G.
