Im not sure he can hold good form for two more seasons. If he recovers from surgery nicely then i could see him having a bigger year for us than most expect. That is if he stays with us...
-
If he stays please put him back to his old position where he is much more comfortable

For all the talk about Taylor having an average to below average year, many should keep in mind that this is the first time in his career he's been put on the strongside out of position.
Good to see that he's realized he's not gonna be the next Denzel Washington and is concentrated on football again -
JT has a pretty good, although quiet, year. Would like him to play the role Saban had for him as a the "Rover" or "Jack" LB, roaming all over the field attacking the opposing offenses from everywhere.

It would be a mistake for the FO to let him walk and possibly sign with a rival. They need to do the right thing and pony up a respectable amount of cash and offer him a two year deal so he can retire in Miami. It's not like he's not a productive player who can contribute. You let a player like JT walk you had better have a good plan in place. Letting him walk and not having a CLEAR upgrade(s) in my mind is the wrong answer.

we need young players on this team.
If you stick with Taylor you are just patching the obvious holes.
We need a dominant pass rusher and JT used to be one but that is in the past.
i wish we would move on. -
we need linebackers for the future not aged ones who really add nothing more than a few plays here and there. I want guys who disrupt offenses and bring consistent pressure and JT no longer can do that. I understand fans wanting him to stick around because of what he used to be but we have to think about the future of this team and face it jt isn't in it.#1dolphinsfan likes this. -

We're not going to bring back JT year after year. We are going to have a young linebacking corps soon. We need a veteran presence. JT will give us good play, a veteran presence and will be a leader, on a cheap contract. Just because he isn't 26 years old in the prime of his career doesn't mean he doesn't have a place on this team. -
And if you love the idea of turning your back on hall of famers that bled aqua and orange, good for you I guess. It's not like JT was a liability, it was quite the contrary in reality. There is nothing wrong with loyalty to a player who was one of the faces of the franchise for over a decade. Nothing at all wrong with it. -
BTW i could give a rats how pff ranked jt. i witnessed the inconsistencies with my own two eyes and saw our starter disappear way too often. Sadly I also saw jt come off the field on third downs because he was often gassed.
father time is undefeated and jt is no exception to the rule. -
player fans. i can never get enough of them. -

You say you want to develop young talent. JT will help with that. He's not holding anyone back. His veteran presence and leadership can only help the young players.muscle979 likes this. -
btw you can be any fan you want to be and so can i. we are all entitled to that. -
Let's just draft younger players and play them.....lol
At least you have this all worked outFinSane likes this. -

my bad i forgot that rookies never ever start in the NFL :wink2: -
JT has more left in the tank than most of us think, put him back where he belongs at WOLB and platoon him with Wake. Wake learns from JT, JT's production goes uo when he's in there, Wake comes out a better player, what's to lose in this strategy?

JT played half a season on a bum shoulder and imho was the only veteran on defense that played worth half a damn vs Pitt and vs Tenn.Puka-head likes this. -
Interesting debate and I can see the logic of both sides. JT has been a great player and the face of the Dolphins for most of his career but there comes a time when all players must step down to allow youth to grow for the future. On the other hand if JT can understand his role and accepts the fact he is not what he once was, there should be room on the Dolphins roster for a future ring of honor player and a great mentor and role model for the younger players. Let training camp decide what his role is and what he can do for the Dolphins.

I bet you own a chalk board. -
JT can play both OLB slots and DE, imho a roster swap JT for Q is addition by subtraction.
Not that I'm against Q, more that JT even at 35 offers more in a situation role, and Q never played on ST either so it is not like a new hole would be created.
Imvho, JT could be our 07 version Mike Strahan in 2010. -

you watched it and so did I
we aren't close on "D"
i stated early in this thread my opinion would be be unpopular but reality is a bitter pill
status quo won't get it done -

should have kept roth and have JT be a situational pass rusher in 09
that was a mistake -
My point may come off very wrong to some folks here but we have to address this.
I'll let it go makes everyone mad. let it play out
no ill feelings toward anyone in the thread. -
I think it is time we need to look elsewhere if at all possible. He is not the every down, any place type of player he once was. having him for a reduced specialty role is fine but would be pushing it depending on him as a starter. i'm not suggesting just letting him walk but we need to use the next 2 years wisely. -
He can be fine and Id much rather have a player that wants to be here than a player like Roth who faked being injured until he was finally let go... -
Taylor is still an asset and we're already having to fill Porters roster spot.....letting both of them walk would be a mistake.
