Thomas working again. They seem to like him a lot. Gone. Hagan impressing again. I thought Beck was down for evening practice? EDIT: Oops. I forgot the link lol. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/...8/07/30/live_blog_july_30_training_cam_1.html
LMAO..... Got to love these guys. Apparently a "quick release" to this guy is when a QB makes a decision to throw the ball before a buzzer goes off in a drill. Just another example of how these guys are completely clueless to even the basics of the game.
Is it fair to say John Beck needs to stop being a nancy and play some football out there? From all the reports I've read, he seems to be overthinking things.
Donald Thomas is doing very well for himself, he may just be a place holder until McKinney is up to speed, he may not be, but for a #6, he is opening some eyes. I liked the note about Rod Wright playing NT, IMO he would be a better option there then Soliai, but we shall see... Oh yeah, the offensive stuff was okay...I guess...
1) I like Rod's quickness at DT in a 4-3, but as nose in a 3-4 I don't think he would anchor well on running downs. I'd rotate him in as the third down NT, though, since he gets penetration nicely. 2) I want to go a week without hearning about Beck seeming to react negatively to pressure, whether time pressure, pass rush pressure, peer pressure, or otherwise. 3) I agree that Donald Thomas may take a back seat to McKinney once McKinney is up to speed. What's his hold up, anyways?
Hagan needs to watch his mouth; his last 2 years have been nothing to have earned him the right to say anything yet to anyone. He really needs to shut up and just catch the Ball!!!
I duno if it's him being a nancy, but it is annoying. I could understand last year when he went in there and had happy feet. Obviously he was a rookie and nervous or scared so thats understandable. What I don't understand is why he's still so nervous and jittery in there. He just got the snocked knocked out of him last year when literally everything that could of went wrong for him already did. So why is he still concerned? I get that he knows this could be his last chance, but man the F up John. Stop overthinking things and stressing yourself out and just go in there like you have nothing to lose. I really hope he can relax more and put his best effort out there.
He appears to be doing just that so far in camp. Let's hope this continues into real games. Maybe he is actually telling the truth about Parcells turning a light on for him! (we can hope anyway)
Yes, IMO Wright just has "more", strength speed power quickness closing ability. For example, Wright could play nose or De and look good in both spots, Soliai is a NT...only.... McKinney is rehabbing a knee, fortunately he has not been on a bike (AFAIK) look over at the bikes my fellow fin fans...those folks may not be here very long...
John Beck should get caught with some blow or get in a bar fight or something, anything to get the man to relax and calm down and act like a Qb. Granted, it's early, but so far it appears that McCown will be our "guy". And I sort of like McCown, any Qb who will play Wr just to get into a game is alright with me, but I'd like it more if John Beck had last year's Training Camp form, he was money in TC last year, what happened?
Yeah... well, one day after I retract my statement questioning Beck's mental game, I read about him being panicky AGAIN. I'll wait til the end of Training Camp and a few reg season games before I conclude his long terms chances, but short-term John needs to calm the heck down and get settled back there. NOW, in terms of Rod Wright! He's my boy (my Adopted Phin this season). A big reason why I adopted him, and something that MANY people miss is that Rod is actually quite big, and plays so quick for his size that people think he's smaller than he actually is. Rod is listed at 310lbs, if I am not mistaken. 310 lbs. But his quickness is like a guy who is 285-290. I would like to see this rotation established: Running Downs : RDE Holliday (spelled by Merling) NT Ferguson (spelled by Soliai) LDE Wright (spelled by Roth/Langford/whoever) Passing Downs: RDE Merling NT Rod Wright LDE Holliday Now, if we get into a Pass-heavy game, we'll need to re-think that, and spell the pass-set guys.
Last year there were no expectations and he could just go out and play...at least in TC..... But I do agree with your asking the question..... something has happened, but I think it may go back to late junior or early senior year at BYU...anyway something has changed his demeanor, his confidence, and his delivery....
I think the diff is teh coaches last year drafted him, so he knew they had his back. This year all he hears is how he has to prove himself. He needs to stop thinking and pressing before he plays himself out of teh job. I am sorry tho, Beck is also fighting a double standard in teh media. What Sparano says means teh most.
Rod Wright is one of my guys as well, but your list forgot Kendal Langford, who is very similar to Rod Wright phyiscally, Rod fits a Parcells Prototype, but unless he can play NT he may have a problem seeing the field. I'd like Rod Wright, Matt Roth Ferguson, Soliai Kendal Langford, (the guy we signed from the Titans..) I think that would give us a nice set of bookend DE's, 6'0+ 300+ and mobile.
Yeah, that's the guy, we signed him and brought him in, we won't just cut him but we will have to cut someone to make room for him.. I don't like that idea BTW, why cut a Soliai or a Wright or a Roth and keep this career underachiever?
Wonder why Beck was supposed to be down, but it appeared it was McCown down for the 11 on 11 team drills. But according to this guy, sounds like both Henne and Beck looked pretty decent in the two minute drills.
I duno about that. I don't know how he could think the coaches didn't want him to succeed after Donald Lee spent the whole offseason working with him. 6,000 passes etc.
Thats true but they drafted Henne and signed McCown, so they even said that the comp was open. It means open but a human being being the only one not brought in by these coaches/gms, could feel like their is pressure on him.
