I was really hoping to have a chance at Pettigrew or Ingram. I think we hold off drafting a TE this year and grab one of them next year

Too many good tight ends to pass on in the draft; guys that will have Parcells salivating; Bennett and Brad Cottam especially. Fred Davis, Kris Wilson in free agency.

And if they want a guy like Witten, then Martin Rucker is similar in that his blocking is mediocre as was Jason's, but he's been coached up - by Sparano - into probably the best in the game.

Those are both late round picks right? I could see that. Fred Davis would definitely intrigue Parcells in the 2nd round but I see us drafting Jeremy Thompson and Phillip Merling in the 2nd. I was thinking we might pick up Sean Ryan from the Jets in free agency. He'll come cheap and is a Parcells guy

Martellus Bennett is a top 40 pick.

Brad Cottam will likely wow the Combine and be a 1st three rounds guy.

Boomer, I know Kris Wilson played a lot of FB for the Chiefs over the years; would he be our so-called "blocking TE"?

His blocking ability will certainly intrigue.

His 9 career catches, less so.

Kris is in the 260lb department and the Chiefs played him at H-back, FB and tight end simply to get him on the field. His blocking is much improved, but it would be as a pass catcher that he would be on the roster as.

Wow. OK. Slotting has always been my weakness. I always have to wait until just before the draft and then lean on others opinions on which rounds players will go to determine a draft strategy. I have seen DE Phillip Merling slotted for the 2nd round. You think he'll last that long?

Merling would represent outstanding value at 32.

    I think he'll go higher.

 Absolutely. If Sparano can coach that up I'll start a new religion in his name. I think Peele is a Parcells type so I think he'll stick. Parcells will carry three Tight Ends and I think he'll dump Martin so we could definitely grab someone else

I think so too. You'll be the guy I listen to the most after the combines to tell me where players are slotted. Thanks for the feedback

Anyone else notice that Bobby Reid QB out of OK st. is declaring early for the draft? He was the guy that Gundy was talking about when he went crazy in the press conference. He can't keep his job at Okie state but he can make it in the NFL

Parcells and Ireland will look at the regression in Peelle's blocking after Brown got hurt and worry. That said, when they look at it BEFORE he got hurt, especially on the power o's, they'll feel better.

    No worries.

If you think Merling can play OLB in a 3-4 and that he'll last to 32, I see no way and no how that you draft Chris Long. You take Dorsey and Merling and then come back with a Rodgers-Cromartie with the SD pick and Cottam at the start of day 2. That would be a tasty first 4 picks. That said, it's clear that they want early contributors, especially from that first 4. I'm not sure how quickly 3 of those 4 will get in the groove.

I agree, no way given Parcells/Sparano's fondness for drafting and developing TE's that we pass up drafting one this year.

John Carlson ND, athletic but can block a better Fasano. Would love Davis in our offense as well.
