I won't go into that forum out of respect, but why is the Christian Lounge sticky? Just curious.

It's not a lounge. I changed the title. It is a thread.
Raul created the thread. I will let him explain his logic. Also, in fairness, any believe that wants to start a thread about their belief or faith is welcome to do so (and yes, I will stick it if you so desire). We are an equal opportunity forum. -
The title of the thread is a bit...disturbing. Can the atheist thread be titled how horrible is your God?

My bad on the "Lounge" thing, Mal.
Brother Pagan, I wanted to create a place where Christians could come together and fellowship; talk about their favorite Christian bands, songs, and even offer prayer requests or pray for each other without having to defend why they believe what they believe. Everyone is on the same level playing field. No one denomination is better than the other.
BTW, you are always welcome. :wink2: -

How about just "God" without our or your.
WIthout that it would seem a lot less jerky -
The implication is still obvious. Why cant it just be the Christian thread, I have no problem with that. The Our God is Great part is just not needed and nothing but a shot at those who dont think your God is great, or who have a different notion than the Christian God.cnc66 likes this.

I didn't see what it looked like first though from the comments, I can guess. We had a sticky prayer thread over at (the site which shall not be named) and that worked ok. This is a bit broader which is good.
If the title originally was "How Great is Our God" which I suspect, part of the problem is that many would not recognize that as a popular song title in contemporary Christian music. It is always a problem in any form of communication that "insiders" fall into jargon without recognizing that other folks then feel excluded unintentionally.dolphindebby and The Rev like this. -
No worries Rev...I was just wondering why it got a "sticky" status.
And thanx for the welcome, but that's okay. Not much for me in there. ;)Ohiophinphan likes this. -

Thanks for your graciuosness Pagan.
btw, at the risk of highjacking your thread, maybe if the team starts winning we can see the front of the car in your sig? Maybe like its finally moving forward?DOLPHAN1 likes this. -

We do not have to agree to be civil and indeed friendly with each other. My understanding of my faith demands of me to be respectful. I surrender none of my witness by being a good neighbor. My belief is that folks are best exposed to the Christian faith by folks who act in a manner non-Christians should positively expect from us. Brother Pagan has repeatedly mentioned how he has been pummeled in the past by professing Christians who have treated him badly (at best). I will not repeat that. -

St Francis of Assisi once said: "Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words."

You're one of the good ones, bro. ;)
I can't even begin to tell you all the fun stuff. Just one example. At a friend's father's wake. Drove an hour after work to get there, never met his parents before. He introduces me to his mother. No hello when introduced, no handshake. She just touches my pentacle necklace, says "nice", and walks away. The Rev, WharfRat, DOLPHAN1 and 1 other person like this. -

Thank you. I am humbled. I could say the same about you. My personal experiance for practioners of Wicca has, until you, been singularly negative. Perhaps we each have something to teach our fellow adherants just as the tolerance and respect on this board has something to teach the world!DOLPHAN1 likes this. -
Just a question....were the negative ones young?
Lately it seems that there's an influx of supposed "Wiccans" who are teens who watch "Charmed" and "The Craft" and seek to become a Witch because they think it's "cool", instead of learning and understanding what the Old Ways are about.
They annoy me as much as they probably annoy you.WharfRat likes this. -

well...not God and God's non existence perhaps? :shifty: -
Haha, yeah. Thats why I found 'The Church of Atheism' to be a total joke. It kinda defeats the whole purpose.

Or they are kids who are just rebelling against their parents. So they are angry to begin with.

I am sure they do, just like some of the folks who mistake one of the political parties agendas for the Kingdom Of God drive me up the wall.
My first experiance with followers of Wicca was in the early 70's and was being used as an excuse to be cool or counter cultural. They seemed to think Wicca meant "free love" and no responsibility.
Later the folks who crossed my path were folks who were trying to manipulate "god" to do their own bidding. For them their "faith" was a naked attempt to plug into power for not necessarily just purposes. While I understand the need/right/obligation/oppurtunity to approach the diety in prayer; doing so just to gain power for self strikes me as inappropriate no matter what your faith.
Finally, as you point out the folks who today think the media representations of witches is cool and they desire to "out-power" others is annoying in the extreme. Note I was careful there not to suggest that Wicca has a monopoly on folks attempting to use religious belief for unworthy purposes. Many faiths have them, probably all, and since Christianity is the most prevalant religious faith in America we likely have more just in sheer numbers. -
