The south Charlotte tiny mite patriots (I know I know) 6-7 year olds. My sons first year in football and I am the head coach. Very proud and excited! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Be sure to watch plenty of film before your first practice. Little Giants should suffice. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2
Dont put him at a position you want him to play, put him somewhere he thinks looks fun. Im sure you know that but just throwing it out there. Congrats man and I hope he loves it.
When your drafting remember these are kids. Its not about winning as much as its about who has the hottest moms.
sweet! i don't think they have football leagues in my area for my son's age (turning 8 next month). Did you have second thoughts about putting your son into football, considering the whole concussion thing? Serious question, not trying to shat on anyone's parade
Damn when I saw the head line I thought the coaching job would have been something cool like field hockey or cheerleading or even figure skating. Anyway good luck SICK, I'm sure you'll do just fine. One suggestion though you should give the kids this speech before their first game. It will totally pump them up: And if things get rough this one:
Hire DJ as your strength and conditioning coach. Kids will have a six pack and knock of 0.10 off their 40 in no time.
Always remind the kids that its not whether you win or lose, it's if they want to make the team again next year.
Sick, I imagine you know, given the age group, but I hope you focus on like 6-8 plays total. I'm talking tecmo bowl level of differentiation. At that age especially, execution is king. You'll dominate just by having hat on a hat.
Also please teach these kids heads up football. The only way we change how tackles are made in the game is by starting young. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
I have to be trained by USA football and the heads up method. I will be undoubtedly teaching the correct, form, wrap, drive tackling techniques. I hate the "hit stick" and leading with head methods of todays football.
I would try and make passing plays as simple as possible and maybe have only two. Three or four runs. I'd say judge how smart they are. If they have trouble scale back, if they pick it up easily you can probably add more.
Forget that. If you arent installing the flea flicker and fumblerooskie on day 1 you are a failure. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2
Run plays - Sweep left, Sweep right, I-formation Dive right, I-formation Dive left Pass plays - All routes should either be hitches or over the middle (those give the qb the easiest target) You'll go undefeated if you focus on the fundamentals and drill about 6 plays into their heads. I'd imagine that you're probably only allowed to play base defense. If they let you all blitz, then blitz like crazy. Good luck and have fun.
