Can you use PS2 games with it? Cause that would kinda suck even though I only paid $20 for the game console and madden 08 due to the $450 in Best Buy gift cards I had accumulated from work.... Thanks
I heard the earlier version did support backwards compatibility...but all new versions dont. They stopped making the ones that allowed for it, I am told for MFG cost reasons.
ya i see on the box it says no. I got the 40 GB since I only use it for Madden and NHL hockey. I dont really bother much with any other games....I was wondering if anyone found a hack for it though oh well. Thanks for the responses

Current PS3 mods will not allow you to play PS2 games on a non 60 or 80 PS3. I can make it so you can play any downloadable games (Warhawk, GT5 Prologue, Echochrome, etc.). The PS3 modding scene is very small because blu-ray burners are very expensive. So nobody commits the tedius time needed to get some good modding going.
anyone think microsoft stuck with the dvd-9 knowing that the modding community would want the 360 over the ps3 since they could steal games for it? i have a tin foil hat on for this, but its a thought
Then MS makes less with software sales. So probably not. I'm sure it was just so they could release their console a year earlier, for less, and not have much of a stake in the HD format war. The downside is that it could make also make their console obsolete a little faster.
