I just got the whole 2010 season for 20 bucks..So Iam gonna do a weekly thread on any players that we think need to be looked at for one reason or another, draft purposes, cut purposes, weaknesses, strengths, whatever, and give you my most bestest, non bias opinion, lol.. any requests, ideas for week 1 against Buffalo?..

Check out Shuler during the Lions game. See how much different, if any, he looks compared to Fasano. Does he seem to have a better ability to stretch the middle?
-
I can answer that.
No. -
I'd watch the interior OL in the Buffalo and Minnesota games. I'd like to see how slow they are; how they do getting to the second level; how average Incognito really is. I'd also specifically focus on John Jerry pre-"illness" vs. John Jerry post "illness".
Defensively, my targets would be how Tim Dobbins played vs. Channing Crowder, and I thought Chris Clemons started to tail off a bit down the stretch. I'd keep an eye on Reshad Jones as well. See if Jone is a legitimate threat to Clemons' hold on the FS job. Personally, I envision Jones as more of Yeremiah Bell's eventual replacement. -
The first half of the bill game was absolutely dominate..
I watched 3 different defensive players make 3 solo athletic plays that were impressive on CJ spiller, Misi with a quick shed and tackle on a quick draw, The bullfrog on a beautiful read attacking the LOS, from a deep position came up and made the play at a 100 MPH, and Chris Clemons with probably the most impressive defensive play in the game, it was a ridiculous display of athleticism, all alone, shadowed the player in the flat and finished with authority, you wanna talk about a flash of upside, kid was all over the field in the first half.
Henne's stats should of been 15 of 17, he had 2 legit drops..but he shortarmed a very important throw from a confidence standpoint..Brandon Marshall had just executed the sickest double move on a post, He was runnin free, Henne had a perfect pocket and choked, Marshall had to put on the brakes, turn his body, and made the mistake that he does to often, try to catch the ball with his hands, when in this situation, should of used his body..
Besides that 1 throw, and tripping over his feet out from center, twice, he had time to throw, and he did.
Fasano looked really good in this game, and not just from a blocking standpoint, he made plays down the field, after the catch, showed very nice athleticism in contorting his body on a couple plays..
The first half of the first game you can see that interior athleticism is going to be a problem, Berger, the rookie, and Cog's barely getting out of each others way,
Playcalling was good, ronnie was good, everything was harmonious..
After 3 years, still haven't properly addressed the returner position, that dude smith we aquired late in camp from Tampa, was garbage..unbelievable that this regime cannot find a guy.. I mean how desperate was that move..
Henning not knowing how and when to subsitute his backs is a disturbing trend early in the season.ToddsPhins likes this. -
I thought Nolan Carroll started to come on later in the season as a returner, though I too would like to see it addressed. I know Miami's met with SMU's Aldrick Robinson and asked him to field punts specifically, though he didn't do it at SMU (deemed to valuable by the coaching staff there). Could be a player to keep an eye out for in the draft.

I tivo all the games, just wait until the GB game...Ur gonna see a team that looks like a bonafied playoff team.

I agree with Alen. I don't know if any of our "other" tight ends should even be on the roster. Mastrud, Shuler, and Epps didn't show much of anything last year. Never thought I'd miss Joey Haynos.

You guys need to get laid.
Deej, how much did that subscription cost by the way? -

Agree w/ all of that. We totally dominated the Bills up front, especially on defense. Sapp and Allen both dropped easy pick 6's, Clemons had a shot at a pick also. Granted, Trent Edwards sucks, but aside from failing to finish a couple plays and the brain fart on the Parrish TD, you cant play defense much better than that.
I thought Henne played well. The deep ball to Marshall was into a stiff wind, and it hit Marshall right in the numbers, cant put that one on the QB IMO. There was a deep corner route where Marshall was open and Henne overthrew him, probably overcompensating for the wind, that one I put on Henne. Nothing flashy, but no mistakes and no turnovers, its the kind of game that the coaches want him to play.
The 2nd half was a bit ugly on offense. The Bills got more aggressive on defense, the corners started squatting, the running game wasn't clicking, etc. One score would've put the game away, but Sparano & Henning don't believe in going for the jugular.
Couple things to watch for during the season:
1. Ronnie & Ricky leaving tons of yards on the field
2. Henning running right when our best blockers were clearly on the left
3. Paul Soliai in beast mode
4. Mind numbing WC calls when we get into scoring range
5. Polite forgetting how to blockdjphinfan and ToddsPhins like this. -
I have them all on a DVD or something but can not and will not stomach the Henning and Lee dog and pony show :wink2:

dj this is NOT a cut on you but I will not pay for rewind again. It seems the NFLN is nothing more than a money grabber. I paid for rewind during the season and was led to believe it would cover all regular season games any time there after when season over. Found out differently but wanted to continue to go back and rewatch games so reupped. Again after playoffs over they cut me off once again and wanted more of my cash. Screw me once, shame on you, twice, shame on me!
Now with everything else going on with these bums they can keep their rewind, forever! -
Deej, how about paying attention to how much coverage was around Marshall and how often he caught a pass with multiple defenders within a few yards of him...... and how often we appeared to attack the safeties with more than 1 player.
How often did the ground game run for nothing on 1st down?
How often did we end up in a drive killing 3rd and long?
How often did we have penalties putting us in 3rd and long or nullifying a play that would otherwise extend a drive?
How did we look in those 3rd and longs?
How often did we have anything resembling a short field opportunity? (IE: let's say from our own 45 on).
How many long TD passes did we give up that completely swung the momentum of games (or change them entirely)?
How often did Hartline seem to be in single coverage?
Did Henne seem to be favoring his knee during the 2nd half of the year? -
I can tell you that benny sapp needs to be added to our dropped int's and pik 6 crew...He had one so easy for 60 yards, such a gimme...Let me tell ya this..with all those dropped pick sixes, we would of easily been in the top 3 in overall defense no?, thats amazing, how many is that all together?...my goodness that is the most disturbing, silverlined set of circumstances ever...could we of been the top defense if we make those easy picks?
Henne throws to a covered checkdown, a lot...probably because he knows he can buy time, or he has anxiety in his internal clock, I think its both...not a good sign, but Iam gonna keep watchin for that whole internal clock thing.
Guys, where did the speed go from Ronnie browns combine?..ive never been so deceived by my eyes..ive never seen such discrepency in such a short amount of time..Ronnie brown was my pick back then, I made that pick because Of not only the tape, but the jaw dropping speed and power ratio...WTH happened to this man.ToddsPhins likes this. -
during this first game Iam seeing that there is no diverse route tree in Marshall or Bess's repertoire, now iam not sure if that is by design because of wanting to get the ball into Marshall and Bess's hands quickly, or is it because they both just dont have the speed to push the safety's back?..I think a defense at this point in the game and season already know they can cheat up, thus affecting yac, and the ground game...Iam taking into account todds points about dynamics and speed on first and 2nd down..
Without question Chris Clemons was the mvp of this dominating defensive performance, Iam really thinking this kid got injured somewhere along the way..check this out, its the 4th quarter, the bills cant get a first down or any rhythm whatsoever, were just playing with them, their fans are booing them, and its still a one score game..
Trent edwards in the 4th, 10/20 for 39 yards.
Iam gonna keep a track on how many sacks vernon really gave up..he let up 1 all by himself to chris ellis, beaten strait up..ToddsPhins likes this. -
leodis seemingly played Marshall strait up man to man a lot of this game, have seen a few wideshots where he had no help with Marshall..

all of a sudden one no huddle offense and a tyrone culver fu$# up and its a 3 point game....Misi and Odrick were active in this game, Misi's sack was legit and athletic, Odrick made two plays behind the LOS.

2nd pick 6 that was dropped, Jason allen the culprit with a chance to seal the game at the bills 5 yard line...easy as pie play, dropped.. thats 2 so far and wer in the first game of the season..remember silver lining.lol

Some of those I knew the answer to, and some of them I was honestly curious b/c it's been a while since game 1, and I've only seen each one once. -

If a Star Trek fan is a trekkie (sp?), then what is an insanely hardcore fantasy leaguer called?
side note: anyone not see 'The League' needs to rent it. Great friggin show!
