This might actually work against him. I watched most of his games at Ohio State and although he is athletic, there were only a few games where his running was part of the game plan. He has a live arm and can play in the pocket. His problem is reads. Not that he can't, but he tracked his receivers and typically was able to get the ball to them. Not saying that he can't read progressions, but there's not a lot of evidence of it on tape.
The reason I said his 40 time might work against him is because I've already heard a talking head compare him to Cam Newton. No dis to Cam, but he never threw the ball as well as Fields and Fields will break down in a season of being used as a weapon. Probably would get hurt faster and worse than RG3. Don't get me wrong, 4.44 is a crazy time for a QB but the NFL misinformation machine is about to ramp up to make teams think that he is similar to other players that are more or less one-trick ponies.
In my opinion, Fields is not that.KeyFin likes this. -
Heckuva throw right here. -
Hmm... Let me just spitball here... What if the Niners DO take Mac Jones at #3, allowing Fields and Lance to fall. The Bengals could net picks in a trade with either Denver or Carolina for the #5 pick since they both need QBs. Would it surprise anybody if we traded with the other party? In that scenario, we might be able to pick up another 2nd rounder to move down one or two spots.

I'm definitely suspect of a few though. *cough* Penn State *cough* -

Pitts, Chase and Sewell are great talents, but they aren't moving the needle for Atlanta.
