    Whoa. A miss by 5.5 Earth radii?!?! That's what.......22,000 miles? Wonder if we will be able to see it in the daytime too.

    I don't know whats more scary- watching this thing coast by us like that, or the new doomsday cults that may spring up because of it.

    NASA should drop all the moon/mars crap and focus on getting a viable asteroid defense system in place. Not specifically for this one, but just in general. A massive collision is all but inevitable.

    Like what exactly? There is no way they could get a Asteroid Buster completed by then. There is alot of time where another Asteroid or gravitational pull alters its course either closer to us or farther away.

    we went from putting a man in rocket for the first time to on the moon in ten years back in the 60's.. image what we might do today if there was a real national effort. I think you are selling mankind short saying we can't solve this problem in 33 years.

    Well I have no clue what kind of weapon they could make if the technology isn't there. Would it be a laser? As of now there are no lasers like Star Trek or Star Wars just a high intensity beam of light. Even that has its limits.

    from what i know they are already discussing options one being sails on the asteroid, to missles, etc.

    I didn't doubt I just wanted to read it for my own.

    How can I trust Lucky he might be spoutin nonsense I have to question him every now and then.
