Going to Vegas for first time in September. Staying for 2 nights at Red Rock for a conference, but thinking about a 3rd night at one of the casinos on the strip. any suggestions?
You mean Hard Rock? Thats off the strip about a mile or so... If you are looking for nice, clean and classy the Aria, Bellagio and Wynn are the best on the strip but pricey. The Mirage and Ceasers are a pretty damn good alternative if $$ is an issue. Places like Flamingo, Planet Hollywood are basically party casinos. The Mirage has an awesome sportsbook if you have those ambitions. I just got back from a 5 day stint yesterday so feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Im a fan of Mirage. Ive been to the Pink Flamingo and Bellagio but Mirage is priced right imo and offers similar in the way of luxuries. Wet Republic (if they have a pool party) is definitely something to hit up (though if youre married or have kids, youll wanna use discretion on that one).
I'll be there Oct 5th for a few day's for the bike rally. It' easy to lose track of time there, fun finds you. There's a quick coaster ride in New York New York the water fountain at night right across the street from the Eiffel tower, MGM same area has a neat restaurant and lions. The good thing about Vegas is you really don't have to make plans just have a room and see what the hottest topic is when you get there. Show and specials change. Best time I had was when we stumbled into the Raider cheerleader try outs or something of that nature in the Rio.
It was said that the Rio has the best buffet... it's good, but I'm sure there are better now. If you're looking for something at the south (or is it east?) end of the strip, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand, and Mandalay Bay are okay... Mandalay is probably the best of the three. But they each have their pluses. Monte Carlo is easy to get in and out of. MGM's casino is mind boggling. But admittedly I haven't been to Vegas in about... five years or so... things change quickly
Check the Venetian. I get amazing offers from them all the time. Also check Elara. It was intended to be a condo but when real estate sank it was converted to hotels. Connected to Planet Hollywood, right on the heart of the strip, and the rates can be great.
Ceasers is the new king of the buffets IMO, everytime I walk by and it's dinner time you literally have 70-100 people standing in line for that mofo. (Unless you are Diamond member then no line ) Gotta let us know how the trip goes brother. And any other questions I'm sure we can help you answer, Paul has the inside track on the transvestike hookers aswell.
While you are down here I recommend checking out Downtown. Changed over the last 5 years so if you heard or experienced any negative things about it, its a lot better. There is this cool bar called Downtown Cocktail Room where they have amazing mixologist and has a nice feel of the place. If you are a whisky fan, they have this cool place called The Whisky Attic, http://whiskyattic.com Seriously, there collection of whisky is amazing. They have the largest collection in the world, over 3 million dollars worth of whisky, and the experience is awesome. A little on the pricy side, but its an experience.
