I got this from my hunting buddy and wanted to share. Though I'm somewhat sure most who laugh will be north of 35. No disrespect intended. PRICELESS!!
to clarify this wasn't complimentary to the old lady more to the young woman; so don't go thanking me quite yet.
I'm just going to say this and get out of here as not to start anything. It's not whether or not they are heroes for dying for their country. It's about whether the situation calls for that sacrafice. Just because you go to war doesn't mean you HAD to go to war. I think it's pretty sad that some people think this country is always right no matter what, and equally sad that some people think this country is evil. Neither is true,
what does this post have to do with an old woman who lost father, husband and son in the service of our country?? edit; Alex, I edited and removed a very harsh comment from this post to you that you will see in the following quotes of it. I responded angrily to your comments and should have pm'd you if I had a problem. Please accept my apologies.
i can't speak for him but i did thank his post and i will explain why i did so. fighting and dying for one's country is quite possibly the bravest thing that i know of. it is something that is beyond my comprehension due to my views on both A) politics B) wars . my views on politics are such that roughly a day or two after i signed up here i asked to be banned immediately from the forums. i don't get updates on the POFO and i like it that way. too many times (such as this post here) it creates discord between otherwise civil people. i agree with alex44 in the following: 1) the young woman made an assumption that the old lady knew nothing of the sacrifice of war, the young woman put her hands on the old lady which is totally uncalled for & she pressed the issue; which i never believe in 2) the old lady seems to me like she feels that because she has lost relatives to war that she has a right not to deal with protests and people bad mouthing america. with that said please refer to point 1 in which i said the young woman went too far. that stuff no one should have to deal with. the exchange taken between these two people alone shows exactly what wars and politics due to people which is why i'm so against them. you can't even post a response like this and title it a joke without people boiling over at the top of the pot. my respect goes to all men and women who have ever served in uniform in any capacity for any war fought. my respect also goes out to the person who thinks they can help change the country for the better because a document which all enlisted men and women have sworn to uphold and defend (at least i think they have, cnc you were (are) in the navy hopefully you will correct me if i'm wrong) has this to say: ...war history is my favorite part of history in the fact that i think it teaches humans (if they're willing to learn) the mistakes of generations past. i do not speak on this often because we're all so radically different when it comes to these things but if we're going to have men enlisted or drafted to fight wars for freedom or other causes i hope that everyone has the balls to have respect for other people's thoughts. and that's to anyone; not just you two. or the old woman and the young woman.
no attack, simply a statement about "my" respect.. you didn't lose anything so what's the problem. If you don't like what I said, then lose some for me.. dimishing the sacrifice of fallen Americans does not endear me to someone. again, wtf does that have to do with an old woman who has lost so much. He knowingly baited my patriotism, I bit. I really could not care less what you think of it.
maybe you should have pm'ed him? instead of bringing the thread off topic more.......if it was one of the "loungers" you sure woulda jumped at that chance.......i dont care if you care less about my opinion....its just rather funny that you go on the attack....off topic....when its something that gets to you personally..... and telling him to run away from hateful comments is "fitting" isnt a personal attack?!?!?
Point: We (US military) do a lot over there to save the children of Iraq (most of it unheralded). Check out most military bases overseas and you'll find most have multiple units that support orphangaes, help out at schools, and so forth. Children are always casualties of war, it happens. We try to save and help them, but war is war. And yes, there are idiots in every miltary that do idiotic things. We try to weed them out to avoid the one bad apple syndrome. One rape or murder seems to wipe out decades worth of orphange trips, school building, supply donation, etc, etc. Look at the big picture please.
you have a good point and I do care what you think, I was just seriously angry, my apologies to you. I will pull it and apologise to alex for being very harsh.
Guys, please, this was ment to only get a laugh it was not to start WWIII!! My response to anlpg's remark was to get back on the laugh track not to feed anomosity. The day we can no longer laugh at ourselves we are in real trouble. Please lighten up, ok. I love you all and truly ment no harm so I'll forgo posting my next funny. PEACE
I didn't take your remarks as anything more than trying to bring levity to the situation gafinfan just so ya know
Every country in the world has people who will give their lives for the views of their country. Does that mean that everyone is right? NO! Just because you're willing to die for what you believe in, doesn't mean that what you believe in is right. No offense intended.
