http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...lease-james-laurinaitis-chris-long-jared-cook Are the Dolphins interested in one or all of these guys???
We should at least be interested in Long and Laurinaitus, absolutely. Cost may be an issue, but these are two people who can significantly help our team. Jenkins, Laurinaitis and Jack? That would be a heck of an LB corps. Or just replace Vernon (or even Wake) with Long? Still solid production.
We're currently attempting to extend Wake before the 9th. Long has been less effective recently and is only 3 years younger than Wake. I don't think Long is likely considering salary, age, injury history, and effectiveness. If Laurinaitis isn't too expensive, I think he can come in after cutting Misi and be effective.
I sure like Long... but he has had like 4 sacks in 2 years. He will likely get alot just on name. Gase worked magic with Bennett for a while... is Cook similar to him?
Cook is the guy we should be calling a few hours ago. We should at least see what he costs. In an ideal world if we could bring him in and pair him with Cameron we could be like the Pats of a couple of years ago with multiple match up problems for linebackers, especially if Miller comes back.
Cook has hands of stone... Body catcher.. Ill take a chance at Long, a rotation of him, vernon and Wake (also on a new deal) would look good.
I agree. Seems like not many people are acknowledging the fact that we are soon to have a big hole at that position.
Laurinaitus. If we are not in negotiations with his agent right now then I have little hope for our front office. Not that he is the greatest LB ever or the answer to the whole left in my heart when 54 retired. But our LBs stink on toast, sorry guys but whos the last RB ya'll shut down? Laurinaitus is better than all of 'em and would provide good veteran leadership for those promising young guns we have like Jenkins and Hewitt. Cook? Meh. Long? not for 1st rounder pro bowler money, rather hold what we have and pay Shelby and Phillips.
Here is our problem. We need to solve four of our own problems before we start adding other players. Wake + Vernon - These need to be priorities. In today's game, pass rush is a staple of strong defenses. The solution to these problems could be expensive. Miller - Miller is a fan favorite, and his performance definitely merits a pay raise. If we choose to pay the man his money, it will obviously prohibit us from spending elsewhere. Jordan Cameron - Currently, he is scheduled to make $9.5 million. The team wants him back next year, but the question is, at what price? His fate could be anywhere between a long term deal to an outright release. It appears that we will get at least some cap relief with him (restructure) or a lot (release) and this could impact us a lot in free agency.
!?Por Que?! If you don't think fixing our LB corps is priority numero uno senor???Yo No SE. Is there a better option for the $$$ on our team right now? ?Quien es eso? No se? Just in case you didn't understand the words coming off my keyboard. Our LB's STINK! Laurie can't be worse! Sign him NOW!
Laurainits missed 21 snaps in his career, although he's not considered great. He's already more reliable than everyone we have at LB. Why is Misi still on the team?
Honestly its not uncommon for MLB's in a 4-3 to suffer when behind an outstanding pass rushing DT. That may not be why JL has dropped off, but it does matter. I'm ok with a cheap contract and let him play behind the best ALL AROUND DT in football. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
