Yeah I agree not letting them end it right sucks. I wish they would have cancelled svu first though haha.

The shark-jumping culminated in last weeks episode in which one street shot was filmed in front of a blue screen...and it was sooooo badly done that it was shocking.unluckyluciano likes this. -

I wonder how much of this cancellation decision was motivated by not wanting to break Gunsmoke's record. That's the only real reason I can think of. Vanilla L&O is still the best of the franchise: SVU has been preachy and stereotypical for years, CI has Jeff Goldblum trying to pull a D'Onofrio, and did we really need an L&O franchise set in Los Angeles?

I think it is the same issue that plagues many big companies. The guys and gals at the top making the decisions don't really have a clue whats going on out side of their board meetings and spread sheets. Common sense has been buried under being isolated from the real world and their arrogant belief that they know everything about everything and they make irrational choices based on inaccurate or incomplete data. heh much like our government.

Prime example: Seattle's Best Coffee, owned by Starbucks. They decided to change their logo recently; no one asked for it, the brand is doing fine as an adjunct of the Big S. But some corporate drone had a brainstorm, and this is what resulted:
From this:
Result: people who first see the new logo overwhelmingly think it is for a blood bank before they read the text.FinSane and TJamesW_Phinfan like this. -

NBC just keeps following one bad decision with another. For example, losing NBA to Disney.... absolutely horrendous. Giving the F-U to Conan O'brian and making a joke out of what is supposed to be one of the most prestigious hosting jobs.
Even their local news has gotten worse. WTVJ used to be one of the best in the 90s, now they lost almost every person that made it great, and are in the basement of ratings along with the NBC network.TJamesW_Phinfan, DolfanJake, FinSane and 1 other person like this. -
Hard to say "gosh Wally SBuck's is soo expensive, good thing I b ought Seattle's best..hey wait a minute...that logo is really fancy...I want more of a Brand X logo to ensure that I'm really suffering in this hard economic times.."NaboCane likes this. -

Clearly NBC knows what its doing. Nothing says cutting edge originality like a Los Angeles cop show.unifiedtheory and Fin D like this. -
i haven't watched the last 2 seasons in full thanks to dish network but the episodes i did see reminded me of shows done in the past.gotta be hard after that long a run.
as far as l.o.l.a goes i'm not sure.i envision it being a jr.detective version of melrose place or 90210 blue where they put more into selling hot bodies in so-cal rather than a great story, only time will tell. -
TV sucks in general these days. Its true.

I do DVR Chuck and Heroes, but don't watch them live because I am usually watching a football, baseball or college basketball game on Monday's.
Now I watch WFOR4 and then turn the Marlins pregame at 6:30.NaboCane likes this. -
I saw one episode of Law & Order a few years ago and that was enough. Way too many crime dramas out there. I'm sure they'll still have ALL freakin' DAY marathons of that show on the cable networks.

Looks like they are cleaning house to make room for new stuff.

WTVJ has gone progressively downhill. They used to have a great site nbc6.net where I could check the weather. Now they have the most confusing website I have seen. They lost Bryan Norcross to wfor, the reason why they got so popular. After Bob Weaver retired and eventually passed away (RIP), they had a great thing going with Lonnie Quinn, but they lost him to New York. He was too talented for down here. Now all they have left is Bob Mayer, and I am sure he will retire eventually.
This is the news I grew up on:

Now NBC gets rid of one of their most popular shows Law and Order? What are they thinking? Do they WANT to be in the bottom of ratings?NaboCane likes this. -

The show HAS slipped recently. I will miss being able to look at Alana De La Garza (IMO the hottest woman on television) on a weekly basis though.
The show was at it's peak up until season 5 with Noth, Orbach, Waterston and Jill Hennessy. Sorvino and Noth were the best cop tandem though IMO but at that time Richard Brooks and Moriarty were the DA's and the weak part of the show.
They have had some damn good female ADA's over the years. Carey Lowell and Angie Harmon were excellent in their roles in my opinion. Waterston was always an upgrade over Moriarty (who I found very annoying).
When it was a Wednesday staple it was one of the few appointment shows for me. Between that and the daily reruns on A&E (when A&E was actually good) it was the only "network show" I watched for a long time.NaboCane likes this. -
