So he flirted with other cities, made them think they had a chance and then shot them down on national TV. Which is why he shows up on that list. Listen, he is a great player and is going to win you a bunch of rings - - but I don't get why you have to argue that he is some awesome person that is just misunderstood. He dug his own grave with the fans / media and it hurt his brand. I don't understand why, as a Heat fan, you give a damn about that. You still get his talents and your rings. What do you care if he is a d-bag?
Because he is not a D-Bag. So whenever I hear BS it is like a reflex action to call it out. The guy is just a star athlete with some entitlement issues (that every superstar athlete has) that happens to give a ton to charity.
He definitely gives a lot to charity and does his fair share in inner-cities and trying to prop up his hometown. Most of these stars move to LA and leave their small towns behind so it is cool to see someone give support to a city (Akron) that needs it right now. I just meant - he is on that list by his own doing. He is the one that flirted with those other cities and built their hopes up. It isn't like they just got those ideas out of no where. So the fact that he is on that list isn't all that surprising - and he isn't some innocent bystander.
It must suck being both a Jets and Knicks fan. It’s a shame the Heat can’t run the Wildcat against the Knicks and ruin your year.
LOL.... And you're named after..... Darelle Revis??? Love when a Jets and Knicks troll tries to make a point.. They can't even figure out the proper name to troll with without looking like complete tools.
I cant wait till Natural selection picks off your fanbase. Although the fact that your Neanderthal-esque fanbase has survived this long is a miracle.
I cant believe A-Rod isn't in the Top 5....my how the mighty have fallen..for me part of the fun of rooting for A-Rod is that he is so hated by everybody in the sports world....so when he does something good like last year's playoff run, man I loved knowing people were killing themselevs over it, ESPECIALLY around my way.... so to all Heat fans, embrace the hate, love it, for it is your best friend, to know that someone cares so much about your team to hate them....thats when you know you got them... OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!
You will be waiting till they put you in a box, and even then, you have to hope that Lebron James comes back for a second life. Enjoy your decade of irrelevance...only 9 years to go.
Kobe is just hated for winning a lot and also for the incident. Lebron is hated just for being a douche... no offense to Lebron.
LeBron is old news buddy....dont act suprised his popularity plummeted. He chose to operate that way, so be it. Like I said old news. Few and few people are NBA fans anymore anyway, let me enjoy the best time of the year featering the best sport...FOOTBALL.
LOL! I picture you stamping your feet and holding your hands up to your ears as you say that. "Old news"? The season hasn't started. LOL. Few and few people are NBA fans? The opposite buddy. Pay attention. it is already the #2 sport WORLDWIDE, and in the US, it is Overtaking baseball as the #2 sport as we speak. Check the ratings. Hell..a GUY announcing where he was signing got huge numbers. But I understand, your team is irrelevant, so you pretend it doesn't matter that they are.
I'm not much of a hater. Though, it's true. LeBron James is hated for being a douche. Unless you got a different theory. ^For the guy above. He meant that LeBron James is "old news" as in nobody really cares that he's the "Chosen One" and the "Witness" thing. His popularity just went down after the Olympics and other incidents.
After the Olympics? What did he do at the Olympics that would cause his popularity to go down? Win Gold and not Platinum? "OTHER" incidents? What other incidents? AGAIN...he signed with MIAMI....He DID NOT SIGN with EVERYBODY elses favorite team...THUS EVERYBODY else got pissed off. That is why his "popularity" went down. SO basically..everybody LOVED him, as long as he went to their team. Like calling the hot girl in the bar a ***** after she refuses to go home with you. That is all that is going on here...but it is still somehow a topic of conversation.
I loved him. I definitely don't hate him, nor do I blame him for signing with Miami. It's a good decision if he wants the easiest shot at a title. You'd be crazy to pass up playing with another top 10 player, and another top 25 player. I feel no different about him as a person anymore, but I certainly won't root for him like I would have had he stayed with the Cavs. Frankly I'm happy he agreed to a S&T.
Wade a top 10 player? For that matter...Bosh a top 25 player? I know what you meant...lol. Just messing with you. You see..THIS is reasonable. Much better than ...WHAAAAAAA!!!!!! "incidents"..."Douche"..."HATE...HATE..HATE!'
Well I think Wade is top 5, but not everyone might. I figured everyone would agree he's top 10 at worst. And Bosh is certainly top 25, he might even be top 15, I just wanted to be sure I put him in a category everyone could agree on.
Whoever doesn't have Wade as a top 5 player is on crack...and in reality..it should be top 4 for the educated fan ( I can accept a Durant argument, as misguided as it is.)....but if you really break it down...he is a top 3 player...period. Bosh is the one that is really debatable all the way from barely top 10 to top 25.
This. I don’t think one can legitimately place Wade any lower on the list than #3. And Bosh has to be considered top 10: I can’t think of two power forwards who are better than him right now. Once upon a time, Tim Duncan, sure. But I have Duncan below Bosh now. And that’s without factoring in the scoring opportunities Bosh will have with basically 4 of the 5 opposing team members covering two guys (Wade and LeBron).
What I find funny is ESPN, the very Company that offered James the one hour special, the same hour James used to raise money for charity as well as raise money for Earning College Degrees Online via Phoenix University, is the same one who is now supporting this pablum about "James is HATED!" I'm also reminded that Kobe Bryant was charged with rape via some attempting to bang some wench in the *** (Child Support is big money for those guys) when she did not want it...and now he is a "hero". Should Lebron do the same so his perceived popularity rises? \ LJ gave Cleveland 6 good season and more success than they have ever had, he moved on in a business decision, that is how it rolls, there is a large contingent of fans who should stop crying.
You just know ESPN gave him the hour long special because they “knew” he would sign with either the Knicks or Bulls, which is where ESPN wanted him to end up. ESPN counts under the “flirted with” category. James teased them, they took the bait, he took his talents to South Beach instead.
One. Kobe wasn't charged. The case was dropped due to the woman refused to testify on court. Two. Kobe been to 7 NBA Finals, 3 consecutive NBA Finals in the past 3 seasons, won 2 of the them. And 5 in total. And his team is the defending champion. What do you expect? Three, they're Cleveland sports fans.
We’re engaging in a logical and thought-out reaction to the assembling of three top ten players in a league that only plays five guys at a time. You’ll note that neither Section or I are sitting here saying that we think the 2010-11 Heat will, for example, break the Bulls’ 72-10 win record. We know that’s a lofty goal that will probably never be matched. We’re not saying that this Heat team will win the next six championships in a row, too. We ARE saying that 49 1/2 states have gone completely insane because LeBron didn’t do what they wanted him to, and we revel in the schadenfreude. Keep it up, guys.
I dont speak for an entire State anymore than you do BUT, I have absolutely ZERO problem with Lebronie going to the Heat. I like the Heat! I like D=Wade, in fact, I think he is easily one of the best character guys in the league, Of course, thats like being the most religious Hooker. What I DO have a problem with, is the way that Lebronnie did it. He indeed screwed over a very very faithful fanbase, and that happens...all the time....well, not so much, but it does happen. The fact that he had to go all Brett Farvee and turn it into an ESPN 1 hour slobberfest JUST so he could punk that fanbase is out of bounds. Completely and totally out of bounds.
He played out his rookie contract and a contract extension. There was no screwing. He had no further obligations to the Cavaliers franchise or the city of Cleveland. There isn’t even a hometown obligation: he’s from Akron, not Cleveland. My understanding is that residents of Akron are reveling in Cleveland’s schadenfreude. There were two ways to leave: in the open or under cloak of darkness. Art Modell chose the latter and is vilified to this day. LeBron chose the former. Doesn’t seem to make a difference. Let’s be honest here. The manner of LeBron’s departure from Cleveland is merely an excuse, not a reason.
Regular season basketball unless it has a Shaq vs Kobe type plot is like jerking off with sandpaper. Football is far and above and not even close, but if u wana get technical Nascar is #2, so their you have it.
Thats absolute BS. Guys leave one team for another every F-in day. I dont see a 1 hour ESPN every single day? Is he now bigger than the game itself?
Again, Art Modell. NASCAR is a passive viewing activity, like birdwatching or porn. It’s not a sport.
any activity that has death as part of its attraction is a sport and certainly not passive. Now golf, that is not a sport
Oh, winning spectacularly excuses eveything? No kidding, the Tres Amigos will be filling headlines with wins soon enough. What bothers me about this is, Lebron is a good guy, he is not some thug and I believe he is being treated unfairly. Note to the Eastern Conference: Get better, stop whinning, you are boring me.
I like NASCAR, it is a sport, and it is also pure entertainment. One makes their own breaks in NASCAR.
I get that almost everyone in the media has trashed LeBron - but to say ESPN has been one of them is the most homer comment I have ever heard. Trust me. I am in Cleveland - I soaked up every anti-LeBron article I could find. I printed them out and made them into fancy hats I could wear around town. I rubbed them under my arms so I would smell like LeBron hatred all day. But ESPN was not one of them. Never. I don't think they published a single negative article after "The Decision". They praised him the entire time. Even today, they are sending a team of FOUR to Miami to cover the Heat this offseason. Think of what they did for Favre times FOUR. They published an article about a study that was done about not only LeBron - but other athletes. Face it - ESPN is in the player business. They don't care about teams - they hitch themselves to players and seeing LeBron succeed only helps ESPN succeed. To say they are biased against Bron is laughable. Miami isn't used to it, but they are going to be ESPNs new baby this year.
Didn't want to start a new thread here since it is Heat related, and didn't want to register over at HeatFreaks - but Cavs beat writer Brian Windhorst (@PDCavsInsider) is in negotiations to join ESPN to cover the Heat for them full-time. I know a lot of you TRASHED him in the whole "Decision" process - but he really is the best in the business. He has known LeBron for years and gives great insight. He is a bit pessimistic but isn't scared to call people out and give the truth. Really great writer and intelligent guy. Be interesting to see how this all plays out as he was pretty hurt and angry with the way LeBron handled things in Cleveland - but awesome for him to get a sweet gig. You guys definitely picked up a great resource in Windy.
