Now I'm confused - so you think he should have stirred up interest and kept the NBA in the news - but that no one should have a negative opinion of anything he did? How can people be so interested to still be talking about it - but then have no emotional reaction to it?
Thought this was interesting - We were discussing the bias reporting by ESPN to create stories and interest. I haven't kept up with the Albert Haynesworth story as much as I could have, but from my understanding - He signed one of the biggest contracts in NFL history Said he was unhappy with a move to the 3-4 Met with the FO and told them he would come to camp, so they agreed to give him his $21 million bonus Failed to show up to camp Now read this article and tell me what the tone is - http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5635659 To me it sounds like they are making him out to be a victim. Like cashing a $21 million check and then not reporting was an excrutiating decision for him.
I'm saying that ultimately what he did will benefit the NBA, and himself. People say that an hour long special was a failure. I think it was a success in every sense. I don't think he should have foregone such a great opportunity to market the league, just to spare Cleveland fans their feelings.
Of course he was playing the race card. If he wasn't it wouldn't have come up. It's now the most popular and effective subject to bring up to completely veer the focus off an actual issue. Lebrons most vocal and adamant critic has been another African American, Charles Barkley. Barkley also has addressed Lebrons claim of "racism" as "stupid" and rightly so. God forbid criticism is seen based on actions rather than PC BS.
Charles Barkley calling anybody out as an idiot is like Linday Lohan calling anybody out as an addict or Paris Hilton calling anybody out as a skank. FTR: Dirk Novitski was just on the radio here in Dallas. He also mentioned the way that Labron should have done things differently, and what he is doing now has a good chance of giving the entire league a black eye (No pun intended). (No he WASNT pulling a race card Bron Bron)
I'm saying it wouldn't matter, there would be a different issue. If he had done it just like Wade and Bosh there would still be as much hatred from the jilted. They would just be spouting a different reason why they hated him. And of course the Boys and Girls Club would have $3 mill less. Other than that the world wouldn't be any different.
What is the definition of "playing the race card" then? He was asked if it was a factor. He answered yes, it probably was. He didn't bring it up or even say the word. Even Phinomina who has stated he hates LBJ admitted after watching the interview that LBJ didn't play the race card.
LeBron really playing the race card? Wow. His image (except to Heat fans) is falling faster than any I have seen and rightfully so. Wade deserves better he is everything Lebron is not.
sigh. He did not play the race card. he was asked a question, and he answered the only way anybody with a brain can. DON'T be "THAT" guy.
Don't let the facts get in the way of anything... He didn't say anything extreme, he simply answered a question... Lebron James better come out with a chip on his shoulders larger than the state of Ohio.. God help the rest of the NBA... The man won 60+ games on a GARBAGE team multiple years... And now everyone is doubting his integrity? Questioning a 25 year old kid like that? Screw them all.. And I know Riley is working from this angle.. The NBA is in for one of the greatest statistical seasons of all time from Lebron.. Assists, rebounds and scoring... Mark my words.
