I've got mixed feelings. If the Dolphins don't pick up a mobile pulling guard, they are not going to be able to utilize a portion of what Daboll likes to do. Its not a huge issue, we can get by with zone elements and short pulls, but I think it would be more beneficial to let him do it all.
Davis had a down year last year, but he's not old enough to expect him to be shot, and the guy can ruin some **** when he is right. -
what's his health like?

SICK and unluckyluciano like this.

At this point, I'm almost completely against signing any more of Dallas's castoff's.
-
The backlash against players from Dallas is really asinine. We got Anthony Fasano, Lousaka Polite, Jason Ferguson, Akin Ayodele, and Joe Berger for minimal contracts and what? A 4th round pick? Some of their tenures have been uneven, but the only one that is even arguably a net negative was Bobby Carpenter. They've come out so far ahead on Dallas pickups it isn't funny.

Tin Indian is far from the first person I've seen trash the team for picking up former Cowboys.

Signing 33 year olds doesn't seem to be this regime's thing, even if he is from Dallas.
-
-
And for the record signing Dallas castoffs has been probably the only saving grace to this regime's veteran acquisition strategy since they started. If you stripped out the players they've acquired that were from Dallas or otherwise coached by these coaches, and just counted the veterans they've acquired in free agency or otherwise that they had to scout and make decisions on without a leg up, their pro personnel decisions would look god awful.

BTW, Wr Roy Williams also cut by Dallas. -
Has he played on the left side at all while in Dallas?

I believe we're already the highest paid OL in football (or damned close to it)! May as well add another expensive dude. Lol.
When you spend what we do on OL we should be top five in rushing.
That said, bring him in. But understand that fewer and fewer dollars are left for plum free agents like Ahmad Bradshaw. -
To me, his durability means we have 1 less question on offense, which I am entirely in favor of, this yr should be about performance and not potential.Bpk likes this. -
I think there are reasons both for and against doing it here, though. -

Good question. I think we were ahead of them before we dumped Smiley. Not sure about after. Too lazy to crunch the numbers again. When I did the numbers before the 2010 season, we had over 20% of the cap tied up in OL. Next closest ones were 18% I think. Anyways, it's changed since then, but I guarantee we're top three.

I like that Leonard Davis could be an ideal mentor for John Jerry. Similar size and style. (Actually, Davis is BIGGER!) He could do for John Jerry what Jason Ferguson did for Paul Soliai.
-
This is why I would not mind Davis, or Darryn Colledge and just get this nailed down with as few question marks possible.
