Alright guys, here are the facts as they stand...
We have a regime in it's 4th year. A 4th year head coach and a 4th year GM. We have a 4 year QB entering his second year as a starter. 3rd if you count the almost full season he played in 09. We have surrounded them with talented players. The roster has been upgraded, the trenches have been built.
If they can't get it done this year, they have failed. All of them. GM, coaches, QB, and the rest of the team they have assembled.
This is not a doom and gloom thread. I'm not trying to suggest this team shouldn't be supported through thick and thin.
But if they fail, NO MORE EXCUSES!!
No more "the receiver ran the wrong route."
No more "we play in a tough division" or "we played a tough schedule".
No more "We were a 1-15 team, it takes time."
No more "We were unlucky."
No more stats to try and demonstrate how a 7-9 team is as good as a an 11-5 team. No more stats period to make excuses for poor play!
Sure let's analyze the hell out of why we lost or why we won, why so and so played well or played poorly. But no more excuses for poor play! WINS and LOSSES is all we should concern ourself with in this 4th year. If this regime fails, they are out of time.
Thanks for listening, and I know this thread won't make a lick of difference on anything that happens this year on this board, but I felt like I had to say it anyway.

Oh I do agree that this year the "reasons" stop and execution has to start. Sometimes plays break down and good teams make something out of it. We need to start making something from nothing or we are dead in the water

There's really no reason to turn it into a black or white issue. If the team does not improve to an acceptable degree, the coaching staff will get fired and with due cause. Writing the whole thing off as a failure is pretty overly simplistic.
Even if you believe Tony Sparano and Co. are incapable of getting the team over the hump, they will have pretty undeniably been quite successful as "cleaners". If they are fired this offseason, they will have left a talented, well-stocked, fundamentally sound roster. Whomever theoretically inherits them, regardless of scheme or philosophy, will not have to engage in big rebuilding process or turnover. If you didn't think that this was the most probable outcome of hiring Bill Parcells, then you were fooling yourself. This is essentially what he has done his entire career, and what he will get into the Hall of Fame for as much as he will his tenure with the Giants. -
All I know is last night what I was watching, it couldn't be more clear that one of those teams was a playoff team and the other wasn't. Take that however you will.

The game that the Dolphins starting unit vs. the Falcons starting unit played last night was a 7-0 game. Taking it as the Dolphins getting steam-rolled, or however you want to do it is editorializing, and to an inappropriate degree., Colorado Dolfan, Trowa and 6 others like this. -
After 1 preseason game coming out of a completely locked out offseason you have determined the fate of 2 teams, one of which was sitting 3 projected offensive starters including probably the best LT in the game and one being the top WR target. I will take that however I will..

I have to agree with the OP.... this is the 4th season with this regime... fans expect Play Off type performance...
We also can see, that Ryan, had 1 of 5 passes completed and a 45 QBR... against the Starting D backfield...
This team will get over the hump once the Defense can protect against the pass... and I like what I saw from SS and VD last night against a talented Atlanta QB-WR corps... even though it was 5 passes attempted...
Our Offense will have a difficulty early part of the season, with the new scheme and packages, and it will be the Defense, IMHO, that will spearhead the turn around...Aquafin, Trowa, Steve-Mo and 1 other person like this. -

What I think that forum is there for is for me and others to post knee jerk reactions in after I've had 12 beers and just watched the Dolphins lose a game. That's just my own personal opinion though, and maybe the mods had other intentions.
I put some thought and a little bit of time into the post, hence, I posted here. -

I'm not saying they don't have the potential to be a piece of **** again, I'm saying it's way to early to write them off for this season. Saying "You want to bet?" is a stupid argument.MarinePhinFan likes this. -
This is why I'm all for cleaning house. If your philosophy is to run, then i'd hope after 3 years you'd have at minimum a decent run game. The offense just looks sloppy, and has since Henne took over. And I believe this falls more on Sparano's shoulders than Henne's.DolfanJake likes this. -
no...wait....
Can I take this as an irrational, knee-jerk, whiny post?
One preseason game after 1 week of practice due to a lockout with a new OC...yeah... -
What I think he's suggesting is that it's pretty ****ing stupid to predict anything at this point. If he were to "bet" you then he would be just like the pretty ****ing stupid people trying to predict something at this point.
*Edit: I shouldn't have used predict. I should have used "know" or "are certain" instead.

Let me put it this way.
Even if the Dolphins had come out and Henne threw 10 TD's, DT ran for 300 yards and the defense held the Falcons to 50 yards total...I still think only a stupid person would suggest that this was a "playoff team". And the opposite is also true. -
I jus hope we start winning so I can enjoy reading and talking on this board again...

I wanted to TRY not to post until after next game, but as the OP stated.......NO MORE EXCUSES. If you are a Henne supporter, he apparently does no wrong. Its NEVER his fault. If you are NOT a supporter, he does no wrong, but excuses are excuses. The FACTS ARE..........He threw 2 ints. and 1 TD. THAT........is BACKWARDS....To put it mildly.
My only problem, or my MAIN problem with Ireland, is his lack of upgrading the QB position, unless they let MOORE play. I am not saying he is an upgrade, but it would be an ATTEMPT at an upgrade. He can find talent, in most cases. I am ok with the drafts. But the lack of drafting a QB or trading for one, is now holding us back. There was NO REASON for not drafting Mallet. NONE. ........except for being scared to make a mistake.
OK....I am done with this.........again.MonstBlitz likes this. -

I guess what I meant by that statement is that Sparano has yet to form any type of identity on offense. He wants to be a running team except they can't run. This has resulted in what I call a sloppy looking unit.
Now as far as Henne goes. I laugh at the 2nd INT people that even try and blame anyone. Regardless of what the coach said. That was as ugly as it gets and not only did he stare Bess down he lobbed a pass that had coverage both under and over the WR. That's typical Henne, and like usual he does it on our side of the 50. I will even go so far as to say the first INT was on Henne. Should it have been caught, yes, but regardless Fasano was heading towards the sidelines and had to turn back and try and catch a bullet that was behind him.
I'm far from a Henne believer, but since we didn't make a move to draft a QB early (which I'm with you on this), I'm glad they stuck with him. I'd rather they all fail together and clean house, then to bring in Orton and maybe make a playoff push only to get taken out in the wildcard and continue this never ending mediocre play. -
Who tried to blame the 2nd INT on anyone buy Henne? -

No more excuses, no more rationalizations, no more blaming the fans when they simply recognize something that's worng with the team, its coaching or its front office.
Sounds right to me.
