The Browns placed wide receiver Davone Bess on the reserve/non-football illness list Saturday, bringing his season to an end. More details are not yet known about what Bess is dealing with, as he was listed on the injury report for personal reasons prior. According to The Plain Dealer, Bess has been dealing with a serious issue involving a family member. Bess finishes the season with 42 receptions for 362 yards and two touchdowns in his first season with the Browns.
I'm not sure you can really paint any of the contracts given out in 2014 as particularly serious impediments to anything. The Dolphins are what, going to be $30+ million dollars under the salary cap this year, and the troubling contracts of this last off-season(Mike Wallace, Dannell Ellerbe, and Phillip Wheeler) all essentially have escapes after the second year. You're not really in a position where you can't address your needs, don't have the flexibility to find replacements for these guys this off-season if you really wanna.
I guess I could change the post to quote him instead. Not calling you out or anything for simply stating the numbers in response. Was just stating that the total value we have committed to the WRs doesn't matter much if it doesn't significantly impact the cap in a negative way...
Really hope Bess is ok. Still a player that's easy to root for. Guess moving from Miami to Cleveland could send anyone into a depression though...
Pretty sure that is why they insist on remaining $20MM under the cap. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Speaking to your point... the Fins have the 7th best cap situation heading into next year... http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-o...-10-teams-with-best-2014-salary-cap-situation
Gibson is pure value for us. He's performing at a high level for a peanuts (relatively obviously) contract
